what is the fix for the heavy gas fume smell on r50s

i have a 97 nissan pathfinder and i have a heavy gas fume smell towards the left rear of the truck it has to manual specific codes which i found out it has a couple selinoids that may need to be replaced. was just curious if anyone else had that issue

could be you have a leaky filler pipe. seems to be common or more costly the top of the gas tank is rusting out.

I swear I remember reading about people having rusty fuel filler necks on here having a fuel smell as bushnut said. I personally just had to replace the fuel cap on my 88 wd21 due to it starting to fail and exhaling some strong fumes as you would walk past the gas door as well.

I have replaced all the emissions related selinoids that the dealer spec codes regarding the p1427 and p1430 for evap leaks replaced all evap lines and rubber tubing but still massive fume smell

It's a Florida truck I haven't found any rust but who knows its 15 years old lol

Evap canister is on that side too.

My Pathfinder has also lived in Florida its whole life and it still had the fuel filler neck replaced for the recall. Make sure it's been done.

Funny .. I did the filler neck recall years ago but, I still have the heavy fuel odor and the evap codes on mine. I'm sure that I'll need a new canister but I don't want to shell out the money for a new one.

I have thought about junkyards but I would be worried about cracks in the plastic but I wanna see how the top of the tank is and see about the filler neck recall
