Clutch Options/Opinions

Hey guys, I am in the market for an upgraded clutch as my stock one with ~150K miles is starting to slip after off roading hard yesterday. I get most of my parts for the Pathy from 4x4parts.com, and am debating whether or not to go with a cheaper brand from eBay or to spend the money on the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch setup. I figure now is a good time to replace the rear main seal as well, so after flywheel resurfacing, the clutch/throwout/pilot bearing/rear main seal and labor I should be looking at around a grand if I go with the Centerforce. After this I will most likely be holding onto the Pathfinder for years to come and will probably re-build/prep the motor for boost once the stock motor goes so this heavy duty clutch may be worth it in the long run. Just wanted to see what others have done and what experiences you have with either the Centerforce or another aftermarket upgrade.

 

This is going on a 95 Pathfinder SE-V6.

I guess I'm wondering if you guys would trust the cheaper brands? I'd hate to cheap out and have to do this again in a few months.

 

Thoughts? Opinions? Any good brands that I may be missing? Thanks in advance!

I just went threw this whole process and actually spoke to the pple at center force and they said they didn't offer a clutch that was designed for the r50 despite several web sites selling it as one. Just a heads up as the research I found. Good luck

I'll throw in my 2 cents. I have had a stock clutch. A cheap "racing" clutch from eBay. And currently have a center force stage 2 for my r50. And I'll tell you this. I'll never buy anything but a center force. It's the best feeling clutch I have ever had. It's been almost three years and I have 35s on stock gears and wheel heavily. Still grips hard to pull my boat and the pedal feel is light. Absolutely no chatter it anything.

I bought one of the last Stage 3 Centerforce dual friction clutches that SteeveO sold, and it is amazing to say the least. Firm pedal, easily slippable, but grabs hard if you want it to. Probably the best feeling clutch I've driven on and I expect it to be a whole lot better with the dampner delete and a heavy duty shift fork from Z speed performance. Their shift fork is solid steel so it doesn't deflect like the stock weenie cast sheet metal ones do with a stiffer clutch.
