Disturbed1
ok, so I just recently had an oil change done to my pathy, it had hardly ANY oil and it was black as night... glad I got that out of there, but recently I have had REALLY bad knocking problems. it doesn't always knock, and sometimes it really bad. the oil light comes on, but I've got plenty of oil in it (unless I'm more inept than I thought originally ) any ideas what I should look at? hardwaretoad
Sounds like maybe your oil pump's giving up the ghost, maybe plugged journals... give me guages over "idiot" lights any day. By the time they come on it's usually too late... How did it come to have "hardly any oil" ? If you were running that low you might have terminal damage ~ bearings, con-rods, valve train, you name it. :contract: Good Luck, let us know what you find... Disturbed1
welp.. we'll be replacing the oil pump. is it neccesary to bring in a cherry picker and lift the engine out to get to it?
Mr. Pickles
I hope its just the pump. If you had hardly any oil AND a bum pump, I'd be betting the bottom end is toast as well. You may still be able to drive, but you'd have some racket like you say, like some nasty knocking/vibrating sounds. Lets just hope its a miracle and just your oil pump though. GrimGreg
welp.. we'll be replacing the oil pump. is it neccesary to bring in a cherry picker and lift the engine out to get to it? Either that or take appart the front drivetrain and go from the bottom.
