Euro Cam question-California

I went through a few threads and didnt see much about smog with the Euro cams. Specifically California. I've been waiting for the ol half price day at my local Pick N Pull or a smoking deal on a VG33 block on Craigslist and I figured why not swap the VG30 cams while its out. And better idea, why not the euro cams!! But I live in Smoglafornia. Has anybody in California installed the Euro cams, and still passed smog? I know they are the mellowest of the bunch, but with the way the laws seem to change (someone on here compared their smog sheet from 2012 to 2010, and it seems the restrictions got tighter) I'd hate to go through all the work, only to fail smog.

You could just move....

$200 for cams.

Or search for new job, new place to live, new strip club.....err places of entertainment.

As much as I hate where I live, (the jobs here suck) I sort of like where I live. 2 hours to the ocean, 10 minutes to 2 different lakes and some decent wheeling, and an hour to snowboarding.

I've thought many times about registering my truck at my moms address in Colorado though........

Brilliant!! Because Imaho is a mecca for?? Don't talk like that, you sound like Tungsten...

I have a buddy who offered me a job running a machine shop in Boise (been there) and I told him thanks, but I'd rather gnaw my own leg off first...

:itsallgood:

Trog, I can't answer you, but I have wondered the same thing, especially a euro cam in a VG33. I'm affeared of the SmogPoli myself...

I'm really interested in this cam swap though! Do you know where you're going to source the cams from?

4x4parts.com has them for $200. Nismo at one point had them but I'm not sure if they still have them. You can get bigger and badder options but they cost quite a bit more.

I think it will. He's got all of the emissions stuff in place and the M30 MPFI is far more refined and controlled than the factory TBI. Everything he's installed is newer than the model year '89 (the law, isn't it?) so it should pass that part, and being a much more refined operating system it should have much better numbers than the TBI ever did. Basically if he needed to he could make it run exactly like a bone stock Infiniti M30. We shall see...

If he had a MPFI truck, and then swapped in the 3.3 and the different ECU and everything he would probably just cruise right through a regular station. He went from TBI to MPFI, so hes already going to have to go to a smog referee. Those dudes go over everything with a fine tooth comb. I'm sure hes done his research though.

Trog, your second paragraph sums up the whole reason for putting up with some "inconveniences" in regards to certain laws & regulations

Try living in Britain, you have tons of "inconveniences" without any of second paragraph benefits! :lmao::D :D

Just kidding :itsallgood: There are a few benefits to living in Britain::: good TV comedy, non-sensationalized news programs & morning fry ups!!
