my 99 Pathfinder

I've been lurking on these forums for about a year now and thought I would finally start a thread about my Nissan.

In May I will have had my pathfinder for 3 years, Initially bought it as a second vehicle for occasional use. It had 117 000kms and was in really good shape, however I had zero service records so first things first I had to get some routine maintenance out of the way which included timing belt, drive belts, new fluids, new tires etc.

Anyway this is how it sat for the first 2 years I owned it

I was content with it and had zero plans for any mods.

At first I told myself and my wife that I needed new shocks and struts since they were probably the original ones that came when the truck was new, then I started telling myself that I should swap out the springs while I'm at it. I decided that I would just get a slight lift and I would be happy, I got OME MD rear and LD in the front, and OME shocks and struts.

The tires were alright but I wanted something more agressive and slightly larger than the stock 265/70/15 1.5 year old nokians (that had 22000kms on them) so I upgraded to 31x10.5x15 duratracs. At the same time I wanted a wider stance so I also upgraded the wheels. To make it appear to be taller I also removed the factory step bars.

It was at this time that I went out on my first offroad run where I met up with Projekz and even though the trip was short I was hooked!

Here are a couple of pics from my first couple of wheeling trips

With the help of Projekz I installed OME HD coils in the front and installed some Rigid Dually's. This is basically how my pathfinder sits today and I can't wait for the next mod...whatever it might be

Awesome!

I can't wait to be able to get the OME kit too. Were you planning on getting Rear MD and Front LD or you got confused with the Rocky Road classifications? I'm still trying to decide what coils I should choose.

Nice Pathy and congratulations!

Thanks!

OME only makes MD for the rear and at first I didn't know how much rake the LD coils had. Personally I would get the HD coils for the front, it lessens the rake and to be honey the ride feels the same whether using the LD or the HD coils it felt the same to me.

I just gotta get my hands on some plastidip and wait until the weather warms up a bit and i'll plastidip the chrome, sucks not having a garage...

as for the ride of the OME HD springs compared to stock, they are firmer than stock but they are not harsh at all even my wife doesn't complain haha

I hope to get a couple new things in the next couple weeks. One being a new air compressor, the crappy one I got from Costco is barely adequate, it works and only cost me $20 but I'm hoping to get a viair 400p.

I would like to get a set of sliders this year as well and maybe some skid plates.

I'm still on the fence about getting a raingler net for the cargo area, right now I'm just using a generic plastic pet barrier and the gaps are big enough that my greyhound has already ripped it down before, on the flip side he might chew through the net.

Thanks for the info on the ride quality.

Arent there metal framed pet barriers? Hmm. Most of the metal ones just use tensioners to keep pressure to keep em up. If you get the net, could try that spray that is supposed to keep dogs from chewing your couch etc.

Nicely done. Next time you should lead those Runners. :)

the trail leader is Projekz in his Pathfinder, we wanted to make sure that the nissans were at the front and ends in case we needed to tow the 4runners haha....

In all honesty I don't care who tows me out as longs as I get out haha

  • 3 weeks later...

Well I thought my next post would have been about some exciting mod or update on the pathfinder but instead it's a post that I just sold it. Now to find a new rig........

haha I sure do, he says "jump" and i say "how high?"

I've been wanting something a bit newer and has better aftermarket support, right now It's a toss up between a second gen Xterra or a 4th gen 4runner. I don't think I can go wrong with either.
