Patrick
I put some Silverstar lights into my Bosch fogs and they get so hot that they cracked my lenses! Does anyone know where to get Bosch replacement lenses without the housing? Thanks in advance.
gacruiser
Do yourself a favor and replace the Bosch with some Hella FreeForms or equivalent. You'll be glad you did. Factory replacements are nearly as much as the lights, although you might find some in a junkyard.
88pathoffroad
Moral of the story being, you shouldn't use high-wattage 100W H3 bulbs in small housing fog lights originally designed for 55W bulbs.
Patrick
I know I should have checked that out first...I trusted the recommendation of the brighter bulbs from VIP Auto!
mudfinder
ohhh. so no wonder my lenses where cracked, huh. i replaced the factory fog lights with IPF. not bad. they were free, my uncle gave them to me.
cupples95
You should be able to find the bulb at any Auto Parts business. I have a 95 SE and have replaced mine twice. The bulb costs about $3.00 each.
keithb7
Did anyone mention PIAA's? I hear they are good.
Precise1
Someone, Flyer I think, posted a link in the general forum (I think) on bulb comparison done professionally. They seemed to think the PIAA's were lousy. I don't really know, just parroting. Check out the link and draw your own conclusion. Bernard
Patrick
You know what, the Silverstars I put in were actually only 45 watts (not 100 watts) and they still cracked the lenses!
88pathoffroad
Then perhaps it wasn't the bulbs after all, eh? Many things will crack glass, after all.
