Heloflyboy
Trying to figure it out without going down to truck scales. Planning on towing to GONE Moab this year. Unfortunately my car trailer weighs 2500 lbs. and I know longer have a 3/4 ton truck to pull it. My 4x4 van is only a 1/2 ton so I don't want to kill it trying to pull PF 2k miles round trip. I can borrow my buddies that only weighs 1400 LBS. but I hate borrowing stuff and dragging it that far.
Precise1
Go with 4000# stock and empty and add from there. If you can ditch 1000# in trailer weight and still be sturdy, I'd recommend it... B
Heloflyboy
4K to 4.5K lbs. is about what I figured . My buddies trailer is safe for that weight mine is just over built because I use to have a 1957 chevy 4x4 on a 1 ton chassis it was heavy even for my f250 diesel. Tungsten
I remember going to a weighing station and clocking over 4000 lbs. They aren't light trucks because the frames are massive.
tmoore4512
Mine weighed in at 4773 if I remember correctly... I have a picture of it on the local CAT scales...
Heloflyboy
Mine weighed in at 4773 if I remember correctly... I have a picture of it on the local CAT scales... I was afraid of that. With my exo and added axle and cross member stuff I was thinking I might be tipping 5000. I might try flat towing to save weight of trailer. Slartibartfast
Be careful with flat towing, especially if it's got the auto trans. The user manual says to avoid flat towing when possible, and to pull the prop shafts when there's no other option. Should be okay with the manual, but check for yourself. Mr.510
I have not accurately weighed a four door Pathy. I have accurately weighed my '88 SE-V6 automatic. For reference, the truck was on 33x10.5 KOs on Lego wheels with a 60" Hi-Lift jack on the tire carrier with matching spare, full tank of gas, and the two milk crates of recover gear that are always directly behind the front seats. I estimate these crates weigh 60 pounds total. This was with the stock VG30i and no other mods that significantly alter the weight. Here's what I got at a certified truck scale: Front: 2138# / 49% Rear: 2240# / 51% Total: 4378# / 100% I would *guess* a four door is a couple hundred pounds more than a two door as they have more sheetmetal, electronic doo-dads, and the intake is significantly bigger/heavier. JamesRich
Damn these little trucks are heavy! My titan crew cab weights around 5200#. No wonder my pathy is such a turd with only 145HP but I'm working on that! I think the transmission and transfer case are at least 1/3 of the trucks weight!
