Pro Comp shock install

So I figured I'd throw my rear shocks on tonight and do the fronts this weekend. Upon opening the box, it had 3 different metal sleeves to go in the bushing, none of which come close to fitting the bolt. The other box had no sleeves at all. Obviously these shocks probably fit a ton of different vehicles, but my question is do I need that sleeve? My old stock electronic adjustables had no sleeve I could steal, and the bushing fits pretty snug. Am I asking for the bushings to wear out if I don't use a sleeve?

I'm pretty sure ours have a sleeve but its just so stuck to the shock mount on the truck it just looks like part of the truck now lol. I just slid them on with no new sleeves and they have been fine.

Measure what size bushing you need and hit the local hardware store, you'd be surprised. I wouldn't want to run with out them long term, you should be able to find what you need at a junk yard also. That said, the local auto parts store might have some...

I was kind of thinking that myself. Pro Comp was no help when I called. They fit so snug I'm just gonna throw em on and check every now and then.

Which Pro Comps?

 

I'm running Pro Comp ES 9000 nitrogen shocks. They are slightly smoother than the ES 3000 shocks they replaced.

The 3000's. I kept reading the 9000's were very very firm, so I went with the 3000. I think the 9000's were 20-30 more for a set? Anything is better than the 17-18 year old OEM's they are replacing at this point. Did your shocks have the metal sleeves that go inside the shock bushings?
