Guest impulsive1
An acquaintance at work is selling a Pathfinder. Details are as follows: 1994 SE 115k miles One owner Couple of minor rust spots (dime size) Runs good Extremely clean interior/exterior and underside (always garaged) Needs: Tires, front brakes, possible lower balljoints, have to check on the t-belt $2400.00 Is this a good deal, or should I pass? Thanks!
Precise1
I'm not sure what the going prices are in your area, but I'd say it's worth a serious look. If you are mechanically inclined, the work parts needed aren't that big of a deal other than the cost of tires. You may be able to get him lower because of that, but if you can get a solid, clean, well running low mile Pathy and fix/replace what is mentioned (assuming there is nothing else) for about $3K or so, I'd jump on it.... nige
Take a good look underneath at the frame and make sure it's not corroded. The body is easy enough to fix corrosion, but the frame is very important too. Besides that it sounds pretty good. Post a couple pics for us to see if you want second opinions. How does the exhaust manifold look? that's a common problem with these trucks. Make sure you get to start it COLD, because the seller may already have warmed up the truck before you got there to check it out. Never underestimate the sneakyness of sellers. I did and it cost me 700 bucks
Mr. Pickles
Also, for frame rust, go to the rear wheel well and find the factory holes in the frame. Stick your finger in and see how it feels. Mine is pretty nasty in there, and I need to get after it.
