brix542
Scince im going to start 4x4ing more by my self thought it might be a good idea to have a winch. Ive got a brush guard on my pathy and i was wondering if there was any to modify it to mount a winch to that would be secure for pulling from? If not i guess il get a hitch and put up on the front for it. Thanks
Precise1
No, generally speaking the stock brush guard is not suitable for winching and by the time you have modified it to be acceptable, you could have just designed your own. That said, several people have come up with clever mounts for their trucks, so look through the Member's Rides section for ideas. I believe Smitty built make a brush guard with a winch mount buy they aren't common... B
Slashjt
the winch must be bolted to a thick plate of steel, and that plate needs to be bolted to the frame (I used 8 bolts)
sewebster
I have a brochure from 1991 that seems to indicate that you can get a Nissan winch to put on the factory brush guard? 4000 lb I think it said? I can imagine this not being a very good idea though.
nismothunder
Yep,kindman had a factory winch mount. You could get them up until at least 93.I would do a reciver style winch mount but thats my preference over the bumper style, since they cost less and are removeable. Kingman
I've got one with the factory winch plate that has pre-drilled holes. I've seen a Pathfinder running around town with the same bumper and a Warn winch on it, as far as I could see it wasn't bent up at all and it's pretty obvious the truck has been wheeled pretty hard.
