Need book time callouts for some jobs

I am looking at a 95 pathfinder to get my GF for her birthday...we went and looked at it yesterday and its in rough but good condition...rough is its banged up on both fenders and both passenger side doors have dents on the roof side the rear has been hit where the tire carrier is and is dented up pretty good but someone put about 1/2" of bondo back there so the tire carrier would come off and i'd be doing some body work just b/c i care (the gf isn't b/c she said she'd probably back into a light pole or something anyways) the inside is clean and the engine runs smooth even though its been missing an airfilter for god knows how long but the intake didn't look any worse than mine does...it has a small exhaust leak...no frame rust...autotragic seems to shift good but i don't really know b/c i've never had an auto besides my camry and hated it but it doesnt slip i do know that much) truck has 207k miles on it...right now it needs a battery, water pump, air filter, oil change, transmission fluid change, valve cover gaskets, master cylinder, exhaust leak (smallest one i've seen on a pathy at the manifold but its on the driver side) so here's what i have to do and need time on the books for it so I can give him an estimate of what it will cost him to take it to a mechanic and what the time would be if i did the work

 

1. Timing belt (including cam seals, thermostat, and water pump)

2. Valve cover gaskets

3. master cylinder and brake bleeding

4. exhaust stud replacement

 

so far I have $390 worth of parts that it needs to be replaced without the front windshield (makes it about $590) plus I have to find 31's to put on it and get the shady ass coil spring lift off the back of it (it's got crackable spacers in it)

 

Any prices, times and references would be much helpful

TB-$350/$450 labor

Valve cover gaskets-$170/$217 labor

Closest to studs it has is manifold gaskets which it sais $417-$532 Labor (if stuff goes right I assume)

Brake master sais $65/$80

 

 

I can also check Mitchel On-Demand for you by tomorow at the latest for a little more reliable and wider used program, possibly earlier if a end up at the shop for any reason.

I can't help with any time estimates but I will say that you probably only have to tighten the valve covers back down (I've only had to replace them on aircooled engines) and you forgot installing a tranny cooler (required IMO). Make sure to pay attention to the front end when you drive it, that can get a bit pricey when you start replacing things when it is more than a tie rod...

I don't expect him to reduce the price of hte truck for the cooler...it is in my list of parts tho...I only drove it about 1/4 of a mile b/c of the master cylinder and I don't like not having brakes in an auto...a manual isnt ideal but is alright...auto is a no go all around

 

She wants a car but I told her i would feel safe with her in the pathy and i know how to fix it so she didnt argue...she didnt even care about all the sheetmetal damage which kinda turned me off but its mechanically sound...she's really worried about the smell and color of the trans fluid since she used to be a lube tech...it just hasnt been changed in a long time and its still clear but dark...

 

I believe he won't accept my offer but that's alright...there are other trucks out there that we can find for her

Good point, a tranny cooler is not price drop material...

 

It's almost worth getting one on the west coast and driving it back. You have experience with that, no??

Well we got it...heres how we left her last night after about 3 hrs of work and 2 hours of BSing

 

it was midnight and couldnt crank up the air compressor to blow the inches of mud covering the spark plugs...

 

We had a hellatious tow...it took 4 hours to go 45 miles...learned AAA will not tow a vehicle without valid plates on it and after the guy i bought it from's uncle hooked up we came onto the onramp and heard a tire blow out...it was on the inside and couldnt really check it...20 miles later the tire separated b/c it ate through both sidewalls...drove at like 10mph on the shoulder of the road for 2 miles...they had no spare...i drove off and forgot my toolbox on my tailgate and dumped it in the middle of hte highway...think i picked up all of them but don't know for sure yet...we were at the exit i work off of and i knew of a repair shop...they didn't have any tires small enough only trailer and big rig tires...we offloaded the pathy and i disconnected the rear drive shaft and they drug it the last 20 miles...

 

wasn't bad guy was appologetic and was only charging me $1.25/mile...he asked for $80 and I gave him $100 b/c he could have dropped me in the gas station parking lot and said sorry man i gotta get the truck back ot the yard but he wasn't giving up

Damn, that is the tow story from hell!! I cleaned out the spark plug wells on the wife's R50 with a shop vac and a home made reducer line, but it was oily acorn husks, not dirt that would blow out.

 

.i drove off and forgot my toolbox on my tailgate and dumped it in the middle of hte highway...

I did that years back in the parking lot at work with my machinist top box. That was both a mess and embarrassing.

Well we got it all back together and she wont fire...I'm hoping BC of the deader that @!*% battery in it that wont hold a charge....with a jump it barely turns over and the spark off the coil is orange not blue or white so I'm hoping a new battery willgive us a running truck BC if not I'm at a loss

Got itplated and insured and drove her home before I left on vacation...the hokey suspension lift is coming off and putting a 3" bl on soon...gf wants to keep the 33's on

yep battery was the problem...after being gone for 10 days..she fired right up tonight so i think i removed all the electrical deamons that were hacked into the factory harness that were killing the battery...

 

heres the pix that the guy sent me...i havent had time to get any of it...i've pulled the carrier off and hope to get the bondo off and get some sheetmetal work done on it over hte next few weeks but i know the gf will probably hit something with it so we're not that worried about the body...i was mainly concerned about mechanically sound...not bad for $1500 and $300 in parts

 

Shady suspension lift i have to remove:
