beastpath
can anyone tell me what the real difference is between a car VG30 or 33 water pump (the one without the extra metal bits on the sides, such as is on a maxima or quest) and the truck water pump? Is there a flow difference or something? Edited September 19, 2010 by beastpath
MY1PATH
Flow rates are the same. snout length and I belive one of the bottom bolt locations vary. I belive the bits on the sides are for satbility. On a 4x4 with a fan on the end of the snout rought terrain(or jumps) may have been considered enough to break the gasket seal.(coolant and t-belt bad, losing water bad too) so by adding an extra leg to each side maybe it protects us from that situation. beastpath
are any of their snouts the same length as the pathfinders? do you think the extra sides would really be a factor in stability for rough terrain - or just an extra precaution? unccpathfinder
2wd D21...same mtg as altima just a longer Snout...if you change out the water pump to something else you have to change out the lower timing cover as well...the mountings shouldnt differ and I'm not sure y Nissan went with the different pump/timing cover for the 2wd and 4wd Edited September 21, 2010 by unccpathfinder
