i planned on putting four lights up on my safari rack and i was wondering if i would need a different alternator or no?

well idk if this will help but when i have my 6 100watt fog lights on plus my regular lights(35watt hids) and by backup fog lights on my voltage drops a noticably amount i never really drive around very long like that so idk if it draining the battery or not. I just know i can see my voltage drop close to 12 on my dash

How many watts are they? For four I wouldn't be to concerned about it. With my 10 55watt lights going I don't notice it all that much for a voltage drop.

I have four lights on my roof and dont have a problem with them. Only if I turn them on for extended periods of time without the truck on, makes it hard to crank the truck over the first time. But if you are driving or the vehicle is on you should not have a problem.

alright thanks guys. i also have two 12'in subs with a 600watt amp so with all that?

and the lights im looking at are 100 to 130 watts

Use this formula "amps = watts divided by volts" to figure out your amperage draw.

Example on a 12 volt system a 50 watt light will draw 4.17 amps from your battery.

I've got 2 35w lamps plus 4 more 28x LED lamps and my voltage stays around 14.2v. I suggest getting an optima yellow top battery if you're concerned you're going to kill it. Actually I consider getting one regardless, they're amazing batteries.
