Stranded Sunday with a dead starter. Had my Pathfinder towed to the Pep Boys my buddy works at and one day and $300 bucks later including wrecker bill I'm on the road again. 201,000 miles on the original starter, amazing. Nissan really held their suppliers to a high standard back in the day. Still on the original alternator and ac compressor but I figure they're next.

No way of really knowing, but I'll assume I still had my original starter at 192,000. It would kick over if someone was holding the key to start and someone else tapped the solenoid with the jack handle. My A/C still blows ice cold and no signs of voltage loss... **crosses fingers**

Agreed, some of the stock components have an amazing life span. My favorite story was the headlight on my old D720 that had a hole in it when I bought it. During winter it would fill up about 40% of the way with water, to the point that you could see the light beam changing from the water sloshing around in it. I drove that way for 10 years and it still worked when I sold it. :blink:

$300 with the tow and parts? Not to shabby if so. Couldn't tell you what all is original on mine... I did change the starter but put a known good pre-own in it so it has a chance of being soemones original and besides having to turn my a/c on by a toggle switch (some wiring issue I can't trace down, and it's NOT the button) it looks like it's been in there for a good 20 odd years.

I thought the price was okay too. My Pep Boys is subcontracting tows to their shop for a $40 flat rate. But believe me if I didn't have a friend that worked there I would have been charged more than that for the repair.
