SeattlePathological
My brother in law from Calgary, AB gave us his 96 SE in Spring of 2008. I've been lurking here for a while, and now am needing to do some work on the truck, so I signed up. I don't take it off road that often and usually not just to drive off road. However camping/hiking/mtn biking frequently has us going off the beaten track. My goal is to keep this truck running smoothly for as long as I can, because I'm a cheap bastard. It had 205,000 km on it when I got it and has 212,xxx km on it now (132,000 miles). I probably will be keeping it mostly stock. Right now she needs new exhaust and I'm trying to figure out where to get the parts, what parts to get, etc. Middle & rear mufflers are rotting (but intact) and the junction between them snapped such that the rear inlet is just a pipe and all of the flange is on the outlet of the middle muffler. I would tack it together, but that would never pass emmissions in WA state, so I need to replace the whole shebang. Love the truck--especially the smooth manual tranny. Other vehicles are a newly acquired 86 Volvo 245 and a Suzuki SV650. I need to do a bunch of work on the Volvo (timing belt, seals, PCV system) before driving it. Fortunately, I just finished tuning the moto, and she is running like a top.
Precise1
Welcome SP!! My goal is to keep this truck running smoothly for as long as I can, because I'm a cheap bastard. You say that like it is a bad thing... Sorry, but I can't help with the exhaust questions, I'm now to the R50 world myself. SV650?? That's a pretty good chick bike...
