Guest Bluetribal
My name is Mark but everyone calls me by my last name Kuz (Pronounced Cuz like short for Cousin) and I live in San Diego, CA. I am currently in the market for a 4x4 for snowboard and offroad trips with the guys from work. I am either going to get a Pathfinder (92-95) or an Isuzu Trooper (89-95). There are many more pathfinders out there in good condition so I will probably be joining team Nissan. Hope to learn bunches from you guys! Kuz
jrvanas
Welcome to the forums - get a pathy! Something about spanish names in cars just does not appeal to me (amigo) - started with the Chevy Nova. No = no Va = go Chevy Nova = The chevy that does not go! I think I'm being really stupid here - but my opinion. ~jrvanas
Guest Bluetribal
Well Trooper doesn't fall into that category so it is still a possibility. I figure I better post this stupid question in the newbie section. What is the difference between XE and the SE? Oh and what else comes with the big wheel package? 94extreme
welcome get a pathy man. SE is a sport package and a bit of an upgrade to XE but overall not much diff.
sw
welcome i reckon they seem like similar cars, but go the Pathy!!!!
Guest Bluetribal
Ahhh big surprise you all wan't me to go with the P-Finder I have been doing my reseach on the Trooper for over a year now and was my primary choice till the last couple of weeks when I found I could get a P-Finder about 4 years newer for roughly the same price. The one positive about the Trooper is that if the V6 engine does go bust a small block 350 bolts right up to the trany! But then I would have to find someone to smog it. Oh well, now I am just waiting for Friday's to come around so I can find a truck and maybe get a call back! I actually did get ahold of two people but one truck turned out to be a 2 wheel drive when I got out ther pssd and the other was sold. Oh well what am I going to do? Oh and thanks for the discriptive description of the SE package? Didn't quite follow you.

I guess I am wondering what exactly besides the alloy wheels comes with the SE? Anythign with gearing or any other mechanical stuff?
nige
My SE came equipped with tape/cd player, heated leather seats, heated mirrors, 31" tires, LSD, fender flares, rear tire carrier, chrome bumpers + mirrors among other accents , adjustable shocks, factory brushbar (now bent to rat $hit), ac, fender flares, metallic paint, sunroof, 15" alloys, tranny cooler *sigh* that's all i can think of at the moment.... 88pathoffroad
The SE's are generally just plusher and have more options than the XE's, which are the base models. The SE's also usually came with a rear LSD(limited slip differential) and rear disc brakes with ABS, which are a very nice upgrade over the base model drum brakes with an open diff. nige
rear disc brakes with ABS, they work really nice too. The replacement rotors were 40 bucks a piece, pads were 26. Easy fix too. edit- they are a little piggy in terms of weight.
Runnerman
I guess it is a tad different in Canada? Chilkoot- base model as in no sunroof,no pwr seats and it has a pinstripe I think everything else is the same though. SE- No leather, no power seats everything else LE-Leather loaded all options, That's about it in Canada. They all have LSD
nige
yeah, the chilkoot is available from 96 up. It's nicely equipped and a decent price. Just remember that the more $hit you have on your tk, the more $hit that can go wrong with it.

88pathoffroad
I didn't say the XE's couldn't be equipped with a LSD, some obviously were.
Guest Bluetribal
The one I just looked at Other Topic was an SE and that gave it the added speakers in the rear, rack, a rear window poper, and a couple other things I can't remember.
Guest faktor
hey, i have a xe and i was wondering how do you tell if you have the LSD or not?

SE- No leather, no power seats everything else LE-Leather loaded all options, That's about it in Canada. They all have LSD Yeah, they're different in Australia, too. There is no XE equivalent. The SE is called the 'ST' here. The LE is called the 'Ti' here. There is no Chilkoot equivalent. All the Aussie Pathys are (and always have been) 4x4 with LSD. ...and the Trooper is called the Jackaroo. Over here it's made by General Motors - Holden. They just discontinued them, in fact. They (Troopers/Jackaroos) are a good truck but not even close to the Pathy in terms of reliability or cost-effectiveness. I wouldn't trade my '96 Pathy for a new Jackaroo if it were free. Well, maybe if it were free I would. Maybe. Hmmmmm (No I wouldn't). BlueTribal , go the Pathy man. You'll be glad you did. And welcome aboard... :cool2: Faktor , take a look at your rear diff housing from behind. If you have an orange sticker that reads: "Use LSD oil only", then it's a slipper. There's a thread on here somewhere just on this topic. Do a search.
n0cturne74
My XE has a power sunroof & LSD (doesn't help out any better than not having it.) So I guess it all depends on who buys it new and what extras they want on it.
