Noisy Heater Fan

Hi all,

My 2001 Finder has developed a super annoying heater/airconditioner fan squeek. Anyone know of a related thread in here or a do it yourself fix. Sounds like the squeek is coming from around the glove box area?

Mine was doing that and then it stopped working all together but after removing and cleaning up the brushes it works fine and is silent again.

LOL!!! I've given my dash a good wack when I've heard a sqweek or rattle.

Amazing how a good wack helps things, I had a tickin noise under my dash when I accelerated, a good wack and it was good

 

Speaking of which, I haven't had to wack my dash in awhile.....ohwell

Lol, the only real reason why I posted that is because in both of my Pathfinders the fan sometimes started buzzing and rattling and a good kick under the glove box shut it up. No, I didn't kick it while driving...well besides that one time...

Finally got around to trying to diagnose this issue.... Took the fan apart. Weirdest thing, once I had the fan shroud off and the fan was exposed it wouldn't make the noise. I ran it at all speeds and it was virtually silent. Leads me to beleive the squeak/rattle is somewhere else.

 

Anyhow, cleaned it up, gave it a good dose of WD and put it back together. Any other tips would be most appreciated.
