Precise1
i have me a 85 pathy This I really doubt... If it is a 95, you have the notorious electronic cluster, they are prone to failure. The first thing to do is remove the cluster and check the connections and tighten the brass screws in the back of the flex circut board (they are the ground points). See if it works then, sometimes it fixes the issue. B
Terrano1992
If it is a 95, you have the notorious electronic cluster, they are prone to failure. Tachometer failures are not a rare case on previous (87-93) years also. The same defect cause: first - "little brass screws", second - failure of small electronic board inside the gauge (bad soldering or chip faults). GrimGreg
Yeah, the electric clusters in the 94&95 are notorious for "issues".
Kingman
Almost every 94-95 Pathfinder I went and drove at various dealerships had faulty tachometers. Either they bounced around when driving or they just sat at 0. Very annoying...
Tungsten
Yeah as good as the updated dashboard clusters look, I don't like them because they are generally defective. I have seen one where the tach needle sat all the way at the end instead of 0 and wouldn't move.
ardavis78
I have a '96 w/ the ol' epileptic tach issue...did they still have this problem in '96?
Tungsten
Yep! I think it wasn't until 2000 with the new Pathfinder that they fixed this problem.
