kiwipete
Hi guys. I am looking at putting a LSD in the rear of my truck. Its time to be rid of the open dif. I was told that any ratio Terrano/Pathfinder LSD dif will do and all I have to do is swap the crown/pinion from my old dif to the replacement LSD to keep the ratio right. Does this sound right? I hope so because I can source a 4.3 LSD for next to nothing. I'm new at this end of the mechanicals, hence my asking advice here.
RedPath88
As long as it's from the same axle model line... H233B for example, you should be alright. If it's from something other than a Terrano then its possible that there may be slight differences, but could still work.
TerranoNZ
If the axles are different in the 4:3 I've got a spare pair in the 90 that will be of no use to me Sing out if you need a hand
kiwipete
Thanks guys for the replies. I hadn't thought about axle splines, I have no idea what mine are. I know the fronts are 28's. I've got homework to do.
kiwipete
actually your front diff is 29-spline and your hub is 28-spline; the CV loses a spline from the inner to the outer. your rear should be 31-spline. so any H233B will work except 96-04 Pathfinder, 00-04 Xterra, and 99.5-04 Frontier (these are 33-spline) Thanks for that, awesome. BTW what does H233B mean? Edited April 26, 2009 by kiwipete
