GrimGreg
Yes you can, but be sure to put some duct tape over the back side of the spindle where the shaft went through to keep mud out of the bearings and hub.
Precise1
I believe you could also leave the transfer case in 2wd and release the hubs (or manual) so the broken CVs wont turn. Saves taking them out on the trail. Am I missing something? B

GrimGreg
Well, you will have to swap out the bearings at the least, but you can run without CVs.

Creekkid
Is that the same pathy that you had problems with bad alignment problems. If so did you ever get it fixed. I guessing not if you have trashed the front end now.

Pull the truck out, disengage the hubs and put the transfer case in 2wd and you should be fine. If you need 4wd low for the rears to get out of the woods, you will have to remove the CVs or hack saw them off at the front differential. B Wouldn't it be easier to pull the front propeller shaft out?
k9sar
not needed. CV's are shot. simply disengage your 4wd and your tranny won't be turning them. recognize this part?
k9sar
oh yea... and tie the shaft to somethign so it doesn't flop around and possibly interfere with your steering
Precise1
Wouldn't it be easier to pull the front propeller shaft out? Maybe, maybe not. It depends how rusted the bolts are and if it has ever been off... B
