GrimGreg
Not the entire engine, but you might want/have to remove the heads. I was able to reach mine thanks to my Body Lift, just pulled the wheel off and easy access.
unccpathfinder
install a 3" body lift and get a 90deg drill...you could unbolt the entire body and jack it up to get access trough the fenderwells...or pull the heads...or cut the inner fenders out and figure out how to fix it later to get access... none of which are easy but several different options
muddawg
If you pull the heads, do you have to pull rocker arms and springs, i've never done this before, although im sure i can, its got to be better than pullin the engine to get to the broken studs. Indigent
My 90 doesn't have a body lift and I was able to buy a small battery powered drill that fit. Also, if you take it slow enough you could do it with some extensions and a regular drill. It is definitely a pain, but it is do-able. Just jack up the driver's side and remove the tire. You will be able to see all of them easily. Edited February 8, 2009 by Indigent
180sx
You dont need to remove the springas and valves to take the head off. nor do you need to remove the rockers (right?) i don't have a WD21, but it's pretty universal.

Correct, the valve train doesn't need to be touched.
