A TBI R/I Question

Ok. I yanked the TBI off my 87 Cuz I have Made a buddy of mine a Pathfiner Convert today and he wants my 87. Everything is ok, but the gasket on the Spacer Betwen The TBI and the Manifold (not the spacer, Just the Gasket) ripped on the Manifold Side. Can i use a Silicone gasket Sealer and form a gasket, or do i need to purchase the Dang Gasket...

you can ... just make sure that you use a silicon that is impervious to solvents, oils, and gasoline ... I believe that the orange/red stuff will do the trick as it is also a high temp type ...

 

 

just be sure that you let the bead of silicon you use gets a little tacky first, and you will be sure to have a good seal ...

Get a roll of generic gasket material and cut your own out using an X-acto knife and scissors. That's what I did.

I agree with 88. Make your own gasket but I'd also give it a thin coat of high temp RTV to take care of any imperfections in the surface that may exist.

Yeah, the generic sheets of gasket material are a real savior. Cheap and they can solve all kinds of problems of hard-to-find gaskets.

Shweet. Ill have to Get some. I got Red RTV and Black. Ill See if i can Find some of that Gasket Stuff! Thanks!

Man, that CutAGasket stuff is SHWEEEETTT! Does a NICE Job in a Pinch!
