edicer2
Hi ik that has nothing to do with pathfinders but has anyone ever done a rb25det motor swap? I was thinking about doing it in my Z this summer and get rid of the stupid vg30 in it. (sorry i like the one in my pathfinder but my car should be quickers ha sometimes its hard to tell!) Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has swaped a rb into something and how much work was it to get to run. thanks

tekazgtr1984
RB25DET is heavy but it should work... Why not go with a SR20DET? You can get very similar numbers and it's considerably smaller and lighter.
edicer2
yeah it fits i have seen it done. I didnt get a choice on this car my dad gave it to me for the 16th birthday. but i got a good job now and was thinking of upgraded. I askeed on a z forum and everyone like freaked out. I guess ppl say that stuff all the time and never ever follow up on doing it. lol Im pretty sure im doing this unless i find out it will take more then 10k ha motor is only 2500 shipped and i cant imagine its to hard to get it in they came with a rb20 in japan it was called the 200zr. just wondering if anyone has ever swaped that motor into something and got it to run good. I would do the sr but it doesnt have has much torque to get the car going as good as the rb. my freind has 2 sr20 swaped 240sx and i dont thing it would be much of a improvement from just getting the turboed vg30 that came in the car. 260hp is probably all i will need Edited January 20, 2009 by edicer2
tekazgtr1984
The RB does have better torque, and rightfully so as it's an inline 6. But you'd have no challenge whatsoever in getting equal numbers out of a well-tuned SR. 260HP is almost what the stock numbers are for the S15 SR20 so I doubt there'd be any trouble getting those numbers out of a S13 engine. But to each his own. Either choice will be a good one. Just remember to post pics!!
edicer2
ha yeah will do im still debating for the price of the rb i could just mod the @!*% out of a vg30et lol but idk i rather do something rare. hmm wounder if the rb26 awd drive train would haha jk

edicer2
that was kinda my thoughts. if im going top be spednign 5k to get a sr to work why not spend the extra 1k and make it a better car. Plus then i can say i have a skyline engine haha

tekazgtr1984
Of course an RB26DETT is the most badass way to go. But that's some big coin and lots of time to make it work right. The RB25DET should be just nasty all-around.
edicer2
I would do the rb26 but the 2 turbos dont fit in the engine bay and would cost a @!*% load.
Ironmask
http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-c...QQAdIdZ97977872 200zr mounts and any rb fits..25 is an easy swap alot nicer to work on than a sr and vg too
edicer2
yeah thats what i thought i should look into tring to find the 200zr mounts and crossmember. i think the only other real big fabing is tranny mounts and a changing the lengh of the driveshaft
GrimGreg
If you put in the RB26, you gotta find an old 260z tag from the 70s .
