JDM diesel engine swap

I've been researching sites around the globe about

this and haven't had much luck yet. It's in regards

to swapping my R50's stock VG33E for the JDM

diesel engine (Neo-Di QD32) and I just hope to get

some info about:

1) If the swap is possible, and

2) If it is a worthwhile idea and/or modification.

I started this thread in the diesel engine section

(http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19985)

but thought maybe it'll get better coverage in the R50

section... :happy:

Still pricing it out and looking at possible mods but any

advice or info would be uber-valuable! :D

With enough time and money, any engine swap is possible.

Is it worth it? Depending on what your numbers will look like when you're done, sure. I know someone who just got done putting an International 3.0L Turbo Diesel into an FJ60 Land Cruiser and gets 28MPG and makes 245HP & 320ft-lbs of torque. Up from 11MPG, 130HP and 210ft-lbs on the stock 2F 4.2L I-6.

If you can afford it, do it.

specs for the QD32 pulled off the internet.Couldn't find and MPG ratings but I'm sure it could be better that what you have now

"QD32 - 3.2L L4 OHV Diesel (81kw 221nm)"

81kw=108HP

221nm=163ftlbs

tho you would have a lower tq band I belive it would be flatter to. Faltter is good but lower is bad and 108 hp....

well if you could make it a turbo diesel it might be pretty awesome but thats also more $$$$.

I don't think its worth it.

There was a factory turbo diesel version, the QD32ETI. It makes 110kw = 147 hp and 333nm = 245 ftlb. In comparison, the stock VG33 makes 168hp and 196 ftlb. Seems like a lot of work for not much of an upgrade, and any savings in fuel would be easily offset by the cost of the engine swap.

Thanks for the info guys! You're all awesome!!! :jig:

The engine I am researching is the turbo diesel

model off the R50 JDM Terrano G3m-R, which is the

QD32ETI. That's the turbo model produced for the

Japanese market. The non-turbo model was an

industrial application only, for forklifts, etc.

The numbers are similar to the VG33E and the

diesel does have a flatter torque band but I'm not

sure how the turbo would affect that.

I was also doing some further research and their is a

turbo kit by AXT which on paper increases output by

a supposed 50%. If that theory holds true I'd be stoked!

The big issue is money, of course... :rant2:
