I took it out cleaned all connectors but still nothing. I also took the Amp out and did the same and still no sound..... Head unit or amp???? Any thoughts???? She's lead a full life. Save your pennies, then go down to WalMart and pick-up a VR head unit. They play USB, SD, CD, DVD (in some cases) and they have a jack int the face to hook up to an MP3 player. They start at $60 and go up to $400 depending on what they do. Impressive, cheap, and they beat the hell out of your broken stock one. I might even have a stereo connector laying around somewhere if you want it. That way you don't have to hack up your harness. 92Pathmaker Posted September 20, 2008 Share Posted September 20, 2008 You don't have to bypass the amps, but it is sugested. If you plan on using a subwoofer you need to bypass them. If you don't the sub won't be loud. With the stock amps and the amp in the new deck you only have to turn it to lets say 5 of 20 on the volume instead of maybe 16 or 17 for it to get loud. This way the remote wire running to the sub doesn't tell it to play loud enough. You can tweak things around to make it work, but the sound quality will suffer. I got really irritated trying to make it sound good in my old pathy, once I bypassed the amps everything sounded better. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ajracerfan Posted September 22, 2008 Share Posted September 22, 2008 i had the same problem about a year ago with my 92. what i did was check all the backs of the speakers. turns out the problem was that the right door speaker was kinda just hanging there in the door panel. this had put a strain on the wiring behing the actual tweeter. so i did the genis thing of jiggling the wire and reattached it. worked fine after that. Indigent Posted September 23, 2008 Share Posted September 23, 2008 I left the stock amps running the stock speakers in the rear. I ran a new remote wire for my sub amp. The head unit I have (pioneer) has seperate output just for subs. If you are going to use the stock speakers in the rear, you might as well just leave them on the stock amp.
