mickyficky
My steering feels great. No loss of 'power'. Just took my Path in for an alignment and the guy says "your PSP is leaking like a sieve". He quoted me $427 My questions to all the Pathy Masters out there.... 1. Can I fix a leaking pump with decent skills? 2. Can I replace a pump with decent skills? 3. Is it really leaking if it feels fine? 4. Is 427 a normal quote for a new pump? :tonguefinger: Thanks for the help Edited May 29, 2008 by mickyficky
dagwoodzz
3. Is it really leaking if it feels fine? edit: Are you loosing fluid? When you hold down the brake does it loose resistance? you did say power steering end edit You could check the hoses, I've had to replace mine once. If it's truly leaking like a sieve it should be easy to find the source. BTW< mine is a WD21 don't know how closely it resembles the R50 set-up. Original pump was knocking (I thought it was my valves) Kragen has the part for $140.00. It is really simple to replace. First time took me about an hour, Second time took me about 15 min. The first one I bought stated leaking at the body seal. I noticed it a week after I installed it, I think I drove it like 10 miles. I went back and got another one and installed it. It started leaking that day a little bit. I then took it wheeling and put a few miles on it and it stopped leaking. (it was just a small leak) The seal must have to absorb some power steering fluid before it would seal. I don't know if that is true, But am am glad it stopped. If you have basic tools and are even just slightly mechanically inclined the you should have no problem with this repair.
