Shock Absorbers and the Internal Adjustments

There is a button on the middle console of my '90 pathy that adjusts the shocks... what shocks make use of this?

I'm looking at the Pro Comp ES3000 shocks... would they be a worthwhile upgrade to the standard OEM shocks currently installed? What would the advantages be? Keep in mind this truck rarely goes off road... though it does see decent amounts of snow an bad roads.

Shocks - I have not seen any aftermarket shock that will utilize the stock switch. Nissan parts only as far as I know.

Tranny cooler - those are fine....go with at least the 18,000lb one, as you'll be bypassing the stock cooler.

Canadian tire up here has the monroe sensatracs that can use the switch. And if you go to www.autopartsway.com and look for wd21 shocks they have some kyb's i think that have it as well.

Looks like I'll be in the market for a trans cooler as well.

The only ones that I know of (pending redfinder's investigation) would be the rancho RS9000's. Though, the "switch" doesn't come with them. They have dials on each shock for adjustability.

There is an in-cab controller available for them, but it won't work off the stock switch.

Gah... so the in cab controller is pointless? I haven't been able to find shocks that'll work from it... even the Nissan dealer near me said they don't carry any that'd work!

No, the in-cab controller is it's own entity....controlling the dampening of the RS9000's. What I meant by that is that you can't adjust the 9000's via the stock switch.

It was typically on some SE models...usually with the "Trail Boss" package. Most of that package came with electronic adjustable shocks. They had mixed reviews, though, even with over 200,000kms on them, I could feel the difference when I hit the switch.

:clickdalink:

Theres the link, the first one i believe is it. I'm also going to go to canadian tire and get the guy to pull one for our trucks out of the box so i can see for sure, cause in the computer at the store i saw it myself, that it says with elec. adjustable suspension and without, and the prices are a tad bit different :D

I could feel the difference even with 340.000kms, the stock shocks are tough as hell

Is there any way to get a new set of "stock" shocks then?

is it worth it?

Simon...w hat do you mean by the dampening... how can I hook that stock cab button up to the RS9000's? Is it worth the extra cost?

Hm... okay. I thought you mean the R9000 could have their damping controled via the stock switch....

Would I be good with the Pro Comp ES9000 series shocks... I really don't have 400 dollars to spend on shocks :(

They're also gas adjust... I'm asuming they can be controlled from in cab too?

Only if you had a system like Rancho sells to control theirs. IIRC the Rancho system usues the manually controlled shocks (knob on shock) but the kit replaces the knob with a servo.

If you are wanting to use the stock control system, you need the crappy stock shocks (which you said, your dealer said, they can't get), or (if Redboy is right) the Monroes.
