Is my battery to small? (wrong size?)

Hey guys,

I was looking under the hood today and I noticed that my battery was a rather small size.... so I thought I would check out the model number and see what kind of car the battery is made for. It's a sears dihard and it says it's made for "Passenger car and light commercial" it's a battery group 26. Linky (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02830026000P?vName=Automotive&keyword=30026) is this a suitable battery for my pathy? or could this be causing my "click click click click start " problem? I thought it was worth a shot since I have already replaced the starter and cleaned and tested all ground cables..

Thanks for your input! I really wanted to buy an Optima red top from costco yesterday but I couldn't justify a $160 and not knowing that it's the problem :D

575 CCA is a little low if you see colder climates. Typically, most people run 650+ Mine is 700. I'll be going to a Yellow top soon though, as I need the reserve capacity of a deep cycle to run my inverter, and in the (hopefully) near future, a winch.

Yeah, I live in the great NW.. it doesn't usually get below 20f degrees here.

your problem is your inhibit/starter relay. its the big blue relay on the passengers side of the engine bay. common problem, search for it.

I asked that before but I thought that I didn't have one because I have an automatic.. or because I have a 1995 or something like that.

Does any one know what one it is? because I have 4 blue relays on the passenger side none of them say "inhibit" and they all have the number 25230 on them... is it in the black box or on the outside?

Any help locating it would be great... I could replace them all but that would get pricey :)

I needed a battery and went to canadian tire up here in canada, and the one that the computer said is the right one was like 675CCA. I told them to get me the most powerful one. I now have 1085crank amps and 885CCA's and it starts first try even in -45 weather.

When I get my new truck, im gonna get a yellow top because the one in it now is going and I run an inverter like simon. Except his is probably alot more powerfull (mines 175watts)

You don't need a yellow top to run a 175w inverter. Any standard battery is fine.

I have a 1200w inverter, running an air compressor, thus, I need a yellow top. Not to mention the power draw of a winch.

Take your old battery. Chances are...you're not going to wheel it a whole bunch. They don't necessarily last longer in an on road, typically used vehicle. What kills a standard battery in our trucks is the vibration from wheeling, and the huge draw used by certain electrical accessories/equipment.
