Search for "suspension lift". That's what the little search button is there for. =) You better be thinkin' 3 or 4 inches because you don't get much more than that without a SAS.

A suspension lift consists of:

New rear springs, you can get all sorts of different kinds, AC, Calmini, etc. Or if you're low on funds, get some JGC springs or one of the other options. Check out http://www.damagedreality.com/fordcoil.html for more information.

AC Coils:

Calmini Coils:

Ford / JGC / etc. Coils:

Cranking your torsion bars: If yours are super old and sagging, you might want new ones. Swayaway or the Calmini ones will work. You don't NEED new torsion bars.

SwayAway Powerbarz [i think]:

Calmini Torsion Bars:

New upper control arms: You can get AC, Superlift, or Calmini UCAs. There's a discussion about them at: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1599 Its more or less generally accepted that the AC ones aren't much good, but they work. Superlift are pretty good. Calmini ones are sweet, but pretty pricey.

Calmini UCAs:

AC UCAs:

Superlift UCAs:

As for tires, you can fit 31s stock. 32s with a body lift and maybe some trimming, and 33s with a body+suspension lift and maybe some trimming there too. Check out http://wd21forums.damagedreality.com/phpbb...wtopic.php?t=14 for some more information. Whatever sort of tires work for you... you could get some BFG ATs for general purpose, or Super Swampers, or whatever else. Search for "tires"!

Anyway, there's a whole lot more to talk about where all that came from. Back to the search thing. Use it. =) Now.

you could do a SAS relatively cheap if you could find an u100 donor with dana 44 front axle. which is not too easy. or an Early ford F100 But if you go with the F100 axle you will either have to narrow the front axle or change the front and back axle because the F100 is about 5.5 inches wider than the stock pathy. :cool2:

ground clearance is everything... youd get 2 inches from jgc springs after they settle with no spacers added, but you need 1 in ball joint spacers and an alignment to lift the front 3 in.. not to mention re indexing the t bars.. thats the cheapie suspy lift i have... if you dont know how to adjust toe roughly dont add your bj spacers... unless you are at an alignment shop!!

Search this board and other Nissan boards. Everyone who has done one does it differently depending on their budgets, 4 wheeling environment, fab and welding skills, etc, etc. To start, reading about Yota and 4 runner SAS's are a good point to learn and pickup on what is needed. Or, get a good set of tires and get lockers.

This is just my 2 cents, but I own a 91 and went with the AC upper control arms, and now that they are in place, I really wish I haddn't. They fit is far from par. Ya sure they go in easy enough, but they leave a gap in the spindle when tightened down that makes alignment a PITA. You have to get the gap just right on each side to make her drive straight, hit a solid off road bump, and it's all buggered up again. Also, the AC A arms, even though I followed every direction that came with them, including grease on the bushings, squeek over the tiniest bumps, making the most annoying sound in the world.

Right now, I wish I spent the extra cash for the calmimi ones, rather than the cheeper AC ones. Or just stick with the stock ones, new T bars, and crank away.

Any one want to buy a set of AC arms cheep?

M.M.

No, but I'll buy a set of Calmini arms cheap... oh wait, no one wants to get rid of theirs anyway! ;) I bet lots of people are on the same page with you... the AC ones are attractive because of their [relatively] low cost, but I guess it comes back to kick you later on. :(

Almost anything will do for a SAS but it depends on how much money you want to spend. If you want to run Nissan motor, tranny and xfer case you have to go ford. If you want leaf springs that makes it easier but don't get a 78 -79 dana 44 the axles tubes are crap..(they are different in these 2 years

If you want coil springs any F100 will do the axles will be wider but i like that..

If you want to see some SAS work my web site is..

how to build a SAS, and...lots. Like...upwards of $2-3k. For just the front.

I just read this and i only spent like 300 bucks for the front.. I did get my front end for 100 and it only needed wheel bearings and seals, and i did all the fab work myself, and the engineering,

i'm not done mind you , i still need to change gears and get the drive line built but that will come with $$$$

No question, about that, shops will rape you without a reach around.. just giving the kid some options. on what is possible. If you do the work yourself front and rear axle will cost you about 1000 - 2000 if you pay somebody to do it it will cost you about 5-6 grand front and rear.

I have a question reguarding this suspension lift. After I do the springs, control arms and torsion bars, what bilstein shocks should I get? If I remember correctly, I can't just get the stock ones because I need something longer? Any suggestions?
