Is It A Good Idea?

I want to put a trailmaster 3in body lift on my 88 pathfinder but I’m worried. In your opinion is it a good idea for a 16 year old teen with little automotive experience along with the help of another 16 year old and his dad who have a little more automotive experience to attempt this installation? It would need to be done in a weekend and have very few problems. I will need to drive the pathfinder to school and won’t have a lot of money for any repairs.

I have been reading the how to write up 88 did and plan on following his instructions. I also won’t be able to weld anything.

I apologize now for my horrible grammar and if this issue has been addressed before.

i wouldn't attempt it simply because you HAVE to have it done and done the right way within a weekend this is something you want to take your time and make sure its done correctly theres a few problems people run into while lifting their pathys there is always SOME fabrication required usually welding and fabricating you own brackets or extensions or something or the sort

Um...no.

I've done it twice on my 95's in the last couple of months, and both were done in under a day. There's no fabrication needed. There's a couple of writeups in the tech section that are very thorough. It's not difficult. The worst part of the whole thing is if you have seized bolts. Use some PB blaster every day for a week or so before starting, and you should have no issues.

I think im going to put off the body lift for now. And see if i can take some welding classes

Where in Washington are you? If you decide to do it with your friend make sure you have a 1/2 breaker bar preferably about 22 inches long.(can be borrowed at autozone).it makes it a heck of a lot easier breaking loose those rearmost bolts.

Get a couple of jumbo bottle jacks at walmart and if you decide not to keep them you can always return them.

I did mine by myself. 2 of you should be able to do this.Just follow statikuz instruction ..oh yeah and a couple of 4X4 about 18inches long..You can find scrap ones at home depots cutting section for about a couple of dollar
