WRL69
I have a 93 AT Pathy. In the maintenance instruction manual and in cap of brake liquid pot I read I have to use only DOT 3 liquid Brake. What hapen if I use DOT 4? What hapen if I mix both DOT 3 and DOT 4? Regards,
GrimGreg
IIRC brake fluids, you can use any number the same or higher than listed for the vehicle.
unccpathfinder
IIRC brake fluids, you can use any number the same or higher than listed for the vehicle. I have been told with brake fluid that you can go up to dot 4 but once you do dont go back to dot 3...
GhostPath
DOT 3 and 4 are compatible with each other, with DOT 4 being the better fluid. DOT 5 is NOT and should not ever be mixed with DOT 3 or 4.
rennwerkes
I'd suggest using a good quality brake fluid since they're never very expensive. Ate Blue or Gold are DOT 4+ which provides slightly better specs than DOT 4. The cool thing about using the blue is that you know when the fresh fluid has made its way through when you start seeing a change in color. Next time you bleed your brakes you use the Gold and just watch for the clear fluid to come through. Easy!
