PATHY90
i drove up to my work place today to do my t-belt since i don't have a garage... iot was nice so i had all the windows down, then by the end of the day it started raining so i quickly connected the negative terminal and went to close the windows.. but an alarm started going off. i noticed the horn in the engine compartent up i figured it did work since i never heared it before. i tryed playing around with the alarm to see if it would turn off when i open the doors with the key but nothing... i questions is what should i do? i was thinking of just cutting the horn but if this alarm is attached to the starter then i'm FUBARed. any one have any ideas? MadManMike
i drove up to my work place today to do my t-belt since i don't have a garage... iot was nice so i had all the windows down, then by the end of the day it started raining so i quickly connected the negative terminal and went to close the windows.. but an alarm started going off. i noticed the horn in the engine compartent up i figured it did work since i never heared it before. i tryed playing around with the alarm to see if it would turn off when i open the doors with the key but nothing... i questions is what should i do? i was thinking of just cutting the horn but if this alarm is attached to the starter then i'm FUBARed. any one have any ideas? Is it the stock alarm?... I think you can disarm it on the center console where it says "security" by turning it to off. If it's not the stock alarm there should be a red button hidden somewhere in your cab that you can depress for 10sec or so to disarm it. And last but not least ( If you are talking about a security alarm) you can cut the wires to the siren for now.. I have never seen a security system that will lock your ignition if you cut the wires to the siren. And then look under your drivers seat and unhook it if you have no use for it. It's the black box closest to the center console under the drivers side. Not sure if I helped the situation or misunderstood you In any event and at any irate, -Mike Edited May 27, 2007 by MadManMike
89pathfinder
My alarm never worked and the switch didnt either, so i cut the switch out because it ws just dangling out of the dash. So what i did was follow the wire, if you take out your driver seat the alarm computer should be right there. You can just unplug it or take the plastic off your steering column and cut the wires. 88pathoffroad
Unknowned? *snic* OK... Turning on the ignition turns mine off. Alternately, you can unplug the alarm module under the driver's side seat.
PATHY90
i'm not sure if it's a stock alarm. i don't have a security button on my dash but i'll take a closer look in the cabin.. i'll try disconnecting the security box under the seat. thanks for all the help.
