SteeevO
On teh US (left side drive) pathy the tire is aligned to the left on the spare carrier and over seas the tire is shifted to the right? noticed this while in australia and NZ in December... just thought i'd mention it

govols74n
Mines pretty much dead center, but that using my calibrated eyeball. Mine's centered too, directly over the license plate

Mookie
I guess it depends on how you look at it. I believe it's centered in relation to the body (over top of the license plate) but if you look at where the tire is actually located on the carrier itself, it's left of center. 88pathoffroad
This is true, that Terranos outside the US are spaced over to the right side. I never have heard why.
RedPath88
Perhaps so they swing towards the curb/sidewalk/etc when opened? So they do not swing out and into the road where passing traffic could hit them... just a thought
94extreme
when you drink too much green beer.. things do indeed look off centre.
88pathoffroad
I doubt the swing has anything to do with it, they all swing the same direction to open.
RedPath88
Oh Now I get it... I missunderstood what the meaning was Terrano & non-North American Pathfinder: North American Pathfinders:
MikeV
I think it has to do with the clockwise/counter-clockwise toilet flush theorum. -alcohol-
Pezzy
On the non US Terranos, where they drive from the right side, it makes sense that they move the tire behind the driver, it gives you a better view out the back window... I prefer to be able to see more on the passenger side of my truck... For the american, my guess - they moved it center, as opposed to moving the entire swing arm... so it doesnt block that passenger side view as much. When we built mine, I actually would have preferred my tire closer to the drivers side, so I could use more of the back window for checking in traffic.
