Hey guys Im planning on doing my UCA's tomorrow and I might not have enough time to do the JGC coils in the back.From what I understand is the UCA's wont really give the fronts any lift so my question is would it be ok to just install the UCA and do the JGC coils on later?

 

Im not cranking the tbars yet or putting new tires.I just want to get it prepped .

Yep....the camber will be way off until you crank the T-bars. Why wouldn't you get a chance to do the rear springs? That'll take all of 20 minutes or so. REALLY easy job.

Will the spring just drop out of the seat when the diff is lowered all the way down or am I still going to use spring compressor? :confused:

 

I just want to give myself enough time to finish the fronts first but if the rear is not too hard then ill do them both at the same time. :D

 

Im heading to my local pull and save tomorrow and hopefully I can find a UCA ($12 each) and pull that out so I can also prep the spindle to the calmini UCA's that way its all ready to go when I head out at the base to work on it. I just need to remove the factory UCA and slap the other on there and not waste any time there tring to get that bushing off of the factory. -bounce-

Do the Rear Springs 1st... then it will motivate you to do the front.... Did that on my 95, next night I Adjusted my T-Bars, Alignment in the morning -bounce-

If I do that and im short on time to finish the front wouldnt it sit funny?

 

Im limited on time working at the base :angry: I figured ill do the front while its up on a hoist ill drain my Tcase fluid at the same time too along with the diffs:D

Whiteys would not give me just the spidles they wanted to sell me the whole UCA $45 each if i am recalling correctly...

 

The new rear springs may need a little compression, I used a ratcheting Strap on mine, takes about 30 min to do the rear... Took me 45-60 min a side on the front.

I just called pull and save and they have a 95 in there:D I was hoping that it still has the UCA's and if it does the lady told me itll be $12 per side. I also talked to whiteys this morning and the jackhole that I talked to said they would sell just the spindles for $36 :shrug: I dont think he knows what hes talking about.

 

I hate dealing with whiteys .Those jackasses in there thinks that theyre the only source for used parts and the yard guys rushes me every time im searching for parts in there.

if u jack it up high enough and disconnect the ebrake cable...or go borrow some spring compressors...thats the easiest way...

 

i had to remove the rear wheels and lay the diff on the ground and jack up the truck and disconnect the e brake cable and it took me about an hr or so for the rears...

 

 

for ure UCA's do they come with the tension rod(i guess thats what its called) the thing for the 2 bolts to go thru...when replacing the bushings on the old its a PITA we broke my buddies grandpa's press (it wasnt hydrolic) so with lots of pb and heat i beat the @!*% out of them and they finally came off...

That's the spindle. No aftermarket UCA's come with them AFAIK. I bought new ones from the stealer to avoid having to get the bushings off my old spindles when I install my RoughCountry UCA's.

Lets go back to nightmare of getting the spindle out. Can I use a cut off wheel and cut across that tubing that wraps around the bushing?

Ditto on the rear. I put 'er on jack stands, pulled the rear tires, unbolted the ebrake cable, and down she went. It was easy, although I cut the pigtail coil off a set of JGC coils. I can't vouch for the other method of heating the pigtail and bending it, which would leave the coils a little longer.

Nightmare? Pfeh. Propane torch. Done in less than 15 minutes. Done it on at least 3 sets of UCA's.

Heck ill do that then.Some people made it sound like it takes hours :D Instead of buying UCA Id spend that money on a mapp torch...Thanks bud

Cool. You guys just boost my confidence to tackle this myself. :D I figured doing the front and rear shouldnt take me all day. :beer:
