fishead
OK, I am having enough problems with this that I am starting to believe it is not just me. To check the oil when getting gas, I pull out the stick, wipe it off, put it back in, pull it out again, and the dipstick is smeared. Funny thing is, sometimes there is a dry spot on the stick near the end. What the carp? Is it full, is it empty? This was one of the things that helped bake my previous engine. How do y'all get a good measurement? If I put in an oil pressure gage, will it be a good indicator of when I need to do something?
yozsi
if you have a dry spot at the end, you are low on oil.
94extreme
you need to check the oil cold and when the truck has sat for sometime.. what you're getting is a reading of oil being thrown around.. my guess is with yozsi here.. you're probably empty but check it the correct way to make sure. Slick
i usually check my oil when i get to work... i let the truck sit for about 15-20 mins then i go out and check the oil. i usually get a much more accurate reading than i do if i check it immediately after i turn the engine off. i usually "dip" the stick 3 times .. yes... the dipsticks are a common complaint on these trucks..you are not alone
