high compression engine? boring?

So lets face it, our pathys could use some help in the power and torque department. So far ive heard rumors of superchargers and 300zx turbo swaps. neither seem feasable. The only NA upgrades are the typical I/H/E and cams.

Has anyone ever found some high compression pistons for the little vg30? How about milling the heads to bump up the CR?

Also, I have heard about the vg33 swap, as well as the fact that our blocks are very thick. Is it possible to bore ours out to a 3.3 and use the 33 pistons?

THe stock 3.3 is bored and stroked. The most you can get out of a stock 3.0 is about .2L extra. Lots of companies make aftermarket pistons, rods, etc, the 300ZX crowd is very performance-minded and they use the same engine.

Thing is, with gas prices so high, who wants to have to run 92 octane all the time? ;)

Actually, the stock VG33 is not stroked any more than a VG30. It's all in the bore size. However, 88path is right, the stock VG30 cannot be bored to become a VG33. The cylinder walls are simply not thick enough.

Well, the way I see it is wheather you go hi-comp, turbo, SC your gonna have to run higher octane. There seem to be plenty who would buy a SC if there were one made widley for the vg30E. My question aboug hi-comp was merely wondering if it were possible (if there were pistons made for it) because going hi comp would be alot easier than scrapping together a SC kit.

I have been looking around with little sucess for hi comp pistons. Since most vg30 engine upgrades are centered around the 300zx platform, Ive found about the only aftermarket pistons are LOWER compression for running a turbocharger.

Woop, my bad. I got that impression from reading posts other places, probably had the info wrong from the get-go. ;)
