93PathfinderWA
Hey i have wanting to get a lift for a while now and my friend with his jeep is getting a 6" lift and 33's so i gotta do it some time soon. I have enough money but would like to keep some for savings. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of a four door WD21 with a 3" lift with 235/75/R15 tires, i am trying to get a picture of whether to buy the lift or wait until i can afford tires and wheels at the same time. Thanks, 93 P.S. Any advice on lifts, tires or wheels is appreciated. Edited October 5, 2006 by 93PathfinderWA
SteeevO
3" lift with the p235's won't be bad. i have a 3" SL and 30's whic h isn't much larger it's just fine.
Precise1
Body lift just makes you taller (and able to fit bigger tires). Suspension lift allows you more flex and control, but is more expensive. Seeing how the tires are the bigger investment, you should just save and do it right from the start. Oh, you'll need the suspension lift to fit the 33" tires also unless you want to trim the fenders and beef up the front end at the same time or you will wear/bend components quickly... There are plenty of threads discussing this. B
Slick
yeah. just ask me.. on the top of my x mas list is the L & P stage 3 steering upgrade for king caca..... and as B said..... you can do a BL and get away with stock tires.. but you won't want to keep it like that long. save a bit more n get tires/wheels too. 93PathfinderWA
yah i have read most of the threads on the pros and cons of a body vs suspension lift and was looking more for reviews i guess, AC, Calmini (which i probably wont get), superlift UCAs and things like that, thanks though, but it is my birthday in a week and a half so i am hoping for some cash, not an iPod . 5523Pathfinder
PM me, maybe you can come down to Oly and check my lift out. Maybe I can let you drive it to see how it all feels. Or just see it and know what it looks like!
Slick
welp.. i have the trail master 4" susp lift and an unknown 3" body lift on king caca.. calmini are expensive but strong, trail master have been rated as one of the best, a/c have been rated as one of the cheapest/most economical..... and pretty much a case of.. a body lift is a body lift. just remember to check pricing to parts supplied with a BL.. most don't supply the radiator drop bracket.... and i have the JGC coil conversion on mini me. great bit of lift fer under $200 (that includes the rancho 5000 shocks too) Edited October 5, 2006 by Slick

93PathfinderWA
or go wheeling with him and out do him with the stocker pathy Yah i dont do anything to bad, i can keep up with my friend in his toyota especially when his hubs go out and he has an open differential, spent most of the day getting him over stuff. Is the radiator drop down bracket required or just a good idea with a body lift? Edited October 6, 2006 by 93PathfinderWA
FLApathy
So if a BL allows for fitment of bigger tires, what does an SL do besides more flex and control?
tx_flatlander
So if a BL allows for fitment of bigger tires, what does an SL do besides more flex and control? Even more tire clearance for even bigger tires. Bigger tires=increased frame/pukin/etc (true) clearance. To the op, not very sure what a 235 works out to be in inches; but im rockin 31" A/T's with a 3+3 lift and they are pretty puny lookin. 33's and new rims are in the cards as soon as funds allow. The only difference I really noticed with the lifts was I needed to slow down more in sharp curves. The vehicle still dose not feel top heavy like many SUV's. SC88Pathy
So if a BL allows for fitment of bigger tires, what does an SL do besides more flex and control? AFAIK the Calmini/Superlift/AC control arms DO NOT provide any increased flex.
93PathfinderWA
not very sure what a 235 works out to be in inches 28.9 X 9ish but we are supposed to have El Nino this year and have no snow for snowboarding so the $800+ that I was saving up for snowboarding could go towards the pathy, still praying for snow though. FLApathy
Jeebus, 28.9's? Those would TINY without a lift.
89_trailboss
I ran 235 with 6" of lift for a week. very tippy and looked TINY. I really liked how mine sat with 3" and 31's and 6" and 33's.
tx_flatlander
Yikes, yeah um, 28" will look pretty bad. I personally would save my pennies and buy the lift and tires all together. If your only looking at a 3" lift for now just mount some 31's on your stock tires. Later if you choose to go even higher youll want 33's to fill the truck out. My hopes are one day to throw on the TM 4" lift with drop brackets up front and get 7" (3+4) and maybe toss on some 35's.
FLApathy
You can also toss on a 3 inch suspension lift to that, tx, to get 3+3+4 but I dont like how the tbars hang all out on the TM lift.
tx_flatlander
Ah yes, my bad FLA. I knew that the TM is stackable, dunno where my head went. And I dont like that either, maybe ill fab up some sliders for that. Although, most of what I do is mud rather than rock, but could still wreak havoc on a submerged rock/tree/object. FLApathy
Yeah I hear ya, I thought about ways to counter it too, lol.
Slick
a hint of what 4"SL WITH A 3" BL looks like.. on 33'S. (15X 10 RIMS) (king caca) \ and a JGC coil conversion with t bar cranked on 29's.. the JGC's gave me 3 1/2" of lift in the rear... here mini me is with 29's before i got the 31's.. vurry cheesy.... the before n afters.. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a77/Slick.../pathyafter.jpg (BIG pic) Edited October 8, 2006 by Slick
