93PathfinderWA
Hey i have 1 stuck bolt that refuses to move at all. I have tried PB blaster, liquid wrench, and alot of pushing as hard as i can on the stupid thing and it wont move. My dad said i could get a torch and heat it up. Would heating up the bolt after PB blaster cause a fire cause the can says that it doesnt evaporate, so where does it go? Thanks.
94extreme
no fire but be careful anyway. it goes into the frozen threads.. sometimes you have to let it work for quite sometime.. re apply PB every day or so..
mws
It may burn a little, but not too much. Keep a soaking wet rag at hand and a fire extinguisher nearby, but I have been able to blow out what small fires I've had.
Mr. Pickles
Also, have you tried a breaker bar or a cheater bar over the ratchet? Maybe you need just a tad more leverage. Easy goes it though, ya don't want to break the bolt. Where is the bolt, anyways?
93PathfinderWA
Thanks about the fire notice, i did not want anything to go wrong since it is under the car. Yah i was using a breaker bar. It is holding on some smittybilt steps that i have. The Bolt also holds on something else so i dont want to break it. I will just wait till my dad gets home though. the rig
if you use the "blue tip wrench," heat the surrounding metal, not the bolt itself. Metal expands when heated, and inversly, retracts when cooled. hth
94extreme
you never really said what bolt this was.. my policy anymore is that if i can put another in the same spot i am cutting the old one off.. i have waisted enough time and have bled enough too.
