  1. HELP

i have the all mode 4wd (on a switch)

    will not engage

coincidentally i found this out the day after my QX4 was impounded by a towing company which could have potentially towed it on only 2 wheels (i dont know)

I ran the self-diagnostic for the transfer case and pulled three codes:

Code 5: transfer motor relay circuit

Code 11: 2-4WDshift solenoid valve circuit or 2WD switch of 4WD shift switch is shorted or open

    Code 12: Line pressure switch

Now - what do you experts think of this?

Could this have been caused by a bad tow?

Is there any way to "reset" the computer for the 4WD system - erasing the codes?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!

  2. MPG savings with a skidplate is something i have always wondered about. Why would nissan put on such a flimsy skid plate made out of cardboard-like plastic?

Now my guess in confirmed - i need to install my plastic skid to save some MPG!

  3. as long as they got good feedback - youll be fine.

that ebay price is still MORE than your local mechanics pay, with their accounts.... (wholesale) if a local shop quotes you $100 per strut, that means they are probably paying around $25 per strut

  4. the Europeans have different stuff on their cars than US, same with Japan. It's like that for many different brands, not just nissan. Enthusiasts will often times be able to distinguish the different trims, different bumpers, different lights, different wheels etc between the EDM, JDM, and USDM markets.

(in my opinion, we americans always get the ugliest and dumbed down versions imported here :( )

And specifically to the headlights - in US we have DOT (department of transportation) regulating the headlights which is a US only thing.

vanuatoo, if your Europen headlights do not have proper DOT markings on them then technically they are illegal :) ive had problems with this in other (modified) cars but on a low-key truck like a Pathfinder i'd be surprised to hear if you had any problems.

  5. michelin ..... highway-oriented all-terrain tire.

when i bought my R50 it had michelin LTX all terrains (maybe 50% tread) and, no offense, but they are probably the worst tires ive ever ran, they didnt grip at all and i popped two of them within several months time, one was from driving through a contruction site and the other was just random

they dont even grip on the street, not sure why anyone would ever go wheeling with them

  6. all the opinions here gonna be biased cause everybody has run one or the other, but nobody has run both

but going off what ive read, i prefer the OME which has been tried and tested in the outback of australia

AC 2" lift springs have no evidence of R&D but that guy xplorx4 did moab with the 2" lift so it cant be bad :)
