  1. Thanks for the info guys! You're all awesome!!! :jig:

The engine I am researching is the turbo diesel

model off the R50 JDM Terrano G3m-R, which is the

QD32ETI. That's the turbo model produced for the

Japanese market. The non-turbo model was an

industrial application only, for forklifts, etc.

The numbers are similar to the VG33E and the

diesel does have a flatter torque band but I'm not

sure how the turbo would affect that.

I was also doing some further research and their is a

turbo kit by AXT which on paper increases output by

a supposed 50%. If that theory holds true I'd be stoked!

The big issue is money, of course... :rant2:

  2. Shout out to all those at NPORA all over

    the world! :aok:

I noticed there's no section for Central

Canada so I came to the Western side.

Winnipeg does technically fall on the west

side of Canada (our country's middle is about

an hour east of Winnipeg) so I'm saying what

    up from the west :jig:

  3. the lug pattern for the 2005 and up is 6x4.5 (6 x 114.3)

There are only two set of steel rims that will fit. The Nissan 16x6 steel rim that comes on the EX frontier and a chrysler 16x7 steel wheels.

This is not my truck but here is Pathy with the chrysler rims.

Needs a lift and bigger rubbers! Looks badass though :D

  4. I've been researching sites around the globe about

this and haven't had much luck yet. It's in regards

to swapping my R50's stock VG33E for the JDM

diesel engine (Neo-Di QD32) and I just hope to get

    some info about:

    1) If the swap is possible, and

    2) If it is a worthwhile idea and/or modification.

I started this thread in the diesel engine section

but thought maybe it'll get better coverage in the R50

    section...

Still pricing it out and looking at possible mods but any

advice or info would be uber-valuable! :D

  5. I agree with XLPOR (Dean) on this one. The stock ride height on the

R50 definitely leaves the off-road-going individual wanting more. Having

an extra few inches of clearance comes in handy just about anywhere.

I have yet to install a locker and haven't had any problems when I hit

the trails... yet, that is. I think having both would be a deadly combo.

I plan on installing a locker down the road but if I had to choose, the

    lift is it :D

  6. Whoa, I just joined and I'm pretty surprised that there's so many Winnipegers here!

tekazgtr1984, did you buy new flares too or just the fenders? Mine is an LE so it doesn't have flares and I wouldn't mind adding them.

Yo, nope, just the OEM flares. They're plastic so no need to replace them.

The fenders I will pick up new though because it'll cost less anyway.

    Welcome to NPORA btw :D

  7. Thanks Harvey :D

Unfortunately, there is little information on the engine itself, much less

anything concerning a swap on this side of the globe... everywhere

else had the diesel option so I might be SOL here... :(

However, the tranny, rear and front diffs are exactly the same :jig:

If only I could get my hands on a JDM R50...

  8. Cool! Maybe we can get together and take a cup of coffee like we do in Sweden lol it sounds kinda queer...

Not at all. We Canucks drink Coffee all the time... Luckily we've got Timmy's everywhere so it's easy to get a large double-double pretty much anytime :jig:

But I'd say we go for beers instead :D

    Welcome to the club!

  9. Thats all you had? You're lucky.. check out these pics from my trip to the body shop...

Whoa, that's some serious rust dood... My condolences to your Pathy.

That looks like it was a lot of work to get all that body work done.

Thanks for making feel a little bit better in this 'rusty' situation :D

Good to know I'm not the only one...

  10. Went to Japan a few years back for school, and noticed how many rigs have diesel engines... it's nuts!

The R50 Terrano from 1996-2004 always had a diesel option which is unfair because we never had

that option here ever... it seems the Japanese keep all their autmotive goodies to themselves...

    ahem, Skyline GT-R, Silvia... :rant2:

But I digress. I've been interested in a diesel swap on my '98 since I picked it up. Has anyone come

across this swap in North America?
