That looks like a great idea. I'm definitely going to research this to see if it'd work on my R50.
-
Nope not from Tyler, i will let yall know if he wants me to spread the word
Keep this Tyler posted too! I'd love to attempt a subframe drop

But I guess I'm just a "sheeple" for reading, staying on top of current events, going to university, and making rational non-absolutist descisions.
Yeah, you sound pretty out of touch with things... Knowledge isn't power or anything... (sarcasm noted)
-
Heey, I do the same, well, not ALL day... :tonguefinger:
I gotta admit I'm guilty of the same thing... I just turn my head to the right and there it is!

Where are you getting that lift at or are you customizing it. Maybe down the road I'll do that, when I have a new every day driver. Oh, with that 6" lift you could put 35" on like Tmorgon4 did with his pathy. I've seen that pathy in person few months back and it was sick. Now that he did the SAS on it with 3 link and putting on 37", it's going to be real sick when he is finished with it.

...not to mention the VH45 swap. That R50 is a god in my eyes

Ever heard of friendly fire incidents? Israel was at war with Egypt at the time and attacked a US ship in the Mediterranian. Most Historians agree that this was accidental and probably occured because of a communications/recognition error.
Events like these happen all the time within the US forces, and with our allies.
The US military has attacked and killed British soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan several times. Should Britain declare war because of this also?
I suggest you educate yourself in history before making ridiculous statements.
This does happen pretty much all the time. It's one of the many pointless consequences of war...

From November to March, I make use of mine on a daily basis. A really good feature considering it's a '98 (something I never expected)

Looking forward to the garlic shrimp, scalop, steak, garlic bread and salad dinner planned for this evening. Throw in a movie (Boondock Saints) and some tequila and thats all I could ask for.
B
That sounds like a wicked b-day to me bro! Enjoy it!
BS is an awesome movie btw. Still love the gunfight between them and Il Duce
Cheers B!

Not sure of shipping and all that, but here's a link to maufacturer. Pretty decent list of customizations as well.
-
That's just beautiful, right there... *sniff*
Say, just how many pages are there?
B
I think it could be a mathematical equation:
(Number of inbred hicks) x (terribly modified trucks) = number of pages
...or something to that effect. All I do know: the horror, the horror...
-
Good gravy... what a bunch of inbred morons.

So mine's got the 4.6 gears. Does that make it a SE model?
-
All VQ powered R50s came with 4.3 gears. I'm alex........
Werd Alex... so the VG's came with 4.6's in the auto?
-
why apologize? you did nothing wrong. vengeful, on the other hand...
My lack of knowledge led to a misunderstanding, so that's why I apologized
-
who are you replying to? i'm alex and i never said i had a 5-speed, unless you meant 5-speed AOD...
my VG is an auto and has 4.6s. tekaz implied he had an auto with 4.3s, which is what i was replying to. perhaps you should follow your own advice before you call someone out and make an ass of yourself.
That was my bad... sorry Alex.
-
Typically, the Automatics come with the 4.6s, and the Manuals come with the 4.3s. If you read Alex's post, it says he's got a 5-speed.
Read and use that thing between your ears!
Sorry vengeful... My brain was shut off this morning.
So in that case, my auto has the 4.6 gears. Now that I know, I'll never speak of it again
As for the O/D off below 45mph, is that substantiated? I tried it on the drive home from work and things felt a bit different... A bit more spunk off the line without hammering the gas pedal. To be honest, I don't know what I'm supposed to expect...
-
wouldnt 4.6's kill mileage on the highway since you are revving higher at the same speed than with 4.3's?
Not sure... My knowledge of that mech. stuff is very, very limited. I do very little highway driving; regardless, I'd hate to sacrifice that mileage just for 4.6's...
I always thought the main reason for not offering the VQ world wide was lack of quality fuels, be it scarce or expensive. I actually believe that I read this from some sort of Nissan exec. before.Quality fuel wouldn't be the issue, at least not based on my understanding of the situation
Japanese fuel companies do not run anything lower than 91 octane at the pumps. They run 91 and 94 (99 at some pumps is available too), as well as diesel. Furthermore, the VQ35DE was available in other JDM vehicles: the Z33 Fairlady Z (350Z), the V35 Skyline 350GT (Infiniti G35). But yet not in the late model R50 Terrano... I don't get it!
The 4.6's are great for putting the pep back into the truck..MPG's...well I drove slooooow for a week around town and captured 15MPG (AC + 1" Spacer + 32" HEAVY REVO's + Open Hubs) On Highway with the Scangauge I found with my gears that the engines most efficient territory is 2250-2500 RPMs, limiting me to about 65...would be more like 70 with the 4.3s....that being said those of us with the automagic need to keep the OD OFF until you break 40-45 mph...this will keep the engine in its most efficient rev-band.Yeah the OD could be waaaay deeper than, what is it, 5-600 RPMs ?
So, with my 4.3's and 32" tires, anything below 45 mph (80 km/h) I should have the OD off? That could increase my city mileage?
-
Well hopefully I can find some 4.6 gears and swap those in and see what it does with the power/MPG thing with my r50 since im running the 33s. Im hopeing that'll put it back around stock.
I'm running 32" tires, and I'm assuming with the automatic transmission in the R50, it's 4.3 gears? Would changing to 4.6 be wise? Would that affect putting in a LSD? I'll do whatever it takes to stretch a tank of gas... Aside from getting rid of my Pathy, of course
-
Just guess, but I bet it is the same reason all those great MPG diesels in Europe don't come here - emissions. I dunno about Japan, but Europe measures differently or not at all, I think it is NOx, and Canada/US does.
That crossed my mind... but with the VQ's newer technology, I thought it had better emissions than the VG...?
-
In my experience with both the VQ wins hands down. More power, more torque, can actually pass on the highway and on mountian highways, and better MPG.
With my VG, I've never had an issue passing on the highway or on mountainous roads... thankfully

Check these R50 options, a la JDM:

I've read up on the fuel mileage of both, and on paper the VQ is said to have better mileage. That would be expected: newer engine=newer technology and therefore improved output as well as efficiency.
In light of those two aspects, I'd say the VQ's power/economy ratio is way better than the VG's; there is no point in trying to contest that.
But paper statistics aren't always the reality. Since having my '98 with the 2" lift and 32" tires, I've had people ask me how my mileage is compared to stock specs. Upon telling them, they're surprised their VQ-powered R50's still get worse mileage. Not sure why that is... maybe a lack of maintenance, or a heavy foot...? In any case, projected statistics on paper are usually open to interpretation.
**Just a side note here, but in Japan, the R50 never came with the VQ35DE as engine variation. Aside from what Wikipedia alleges as legitimate info, the JDM version had three engine options. From 1996-2004, the only options were:
- gas (VG33E);
- and two diesel variations (QD32DTi '96-'99, ZD30DDTi '99-'04)
I've always wondered why these variations weren't available here, and why the VQ wasn't a variation over there...
-
I've got a great diesel shop here in Bellingham. I'll see what they have for diesel Nissan Forklift engines or maybe even a ZD30.
BTW, I own a Titan and with the traction control, I'd be scared to do any suspension mods. Raising your center of gravity causes the VDC to be overly sensitive, making it run the front brakes run with the least bit of body roll. I bought my Pathy just because I was afraid to scratch up my Titan and can't afford (esp. after buying the Titan) to mod/repair stuff outside of warranty.
Really? My friend's got a 6" Pro Comp lift and loves it...
To be honest, I don't have the money either way LOL
If you could find me a QD32DTI that would be boss
-
R50s are unibody for the 1,000,001th time haha.
...in other words, a body lift isn't possible.
