I wonder how difficult/costly/timely it would be to build a custom dash with a spot for an clino...?
-
With enough time and money anything, in theory, can be done. But a clear headlight lens mod on a early model R50 seems a bit trivial to me compared to more practical mods. For what's it worth, the JDM HID projectors seem to be a more realistic way to modify the headlights; the cost is really the only damper to consider. It still grinds my gears to wonder why, despite having produced and sold so many, there are so few actual mods available for the R50 Terrano/Pathfinder...

Yup, I'm with Trainman on this one V... $99 to buy it online.
-
If money isn't an issue, the Exide Orbital XCD is just awesome. $240 ain't too great however...
-
$100? That isn't cheap, but it's certainly worth every penny I'm sure! Better than the average clinometer...
-
Those are so damn nice! Looks great with the bumper light guards too... I still fail understand why those were never available but in Japan...
-
Oh ok... What's another $100-150 after already spending a grand, right? So I guess the choice is evident. Lockers it is!
-
Good gods! That's something fierce... I got $1200CAD+shipping quoted from a guy outta BC and still thought that was steep.
-
You're most definitely right; I just don't want to put an air tank in my rig. That sh*t ain't cheap...
-
Dang... So front and rear air lockers are the way to go eh? Damn, that's a lotta $$$ after factoring in an air compressor, lines, etc... Yipes. BTW, I heard back from Mike @ AC. He said the LSD's they sell are built to OEM spec but are hardier than the stock R50 LSD...? Yet the BAT is the same as stock...? Eh?
-
True enough... It'd be pretty pointless with the R50 early model headlights. Would you mind my asking what you paid for the JDM headlights? I'm just wondering if it's similar to what I'm paying...
-
So this would be no good for my rig...? https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=5024
-
Well isn't that some bunk nasty... So then a Detroit Locker would be reasonably better choice? I don't think I want to spend money on an air locker. That's a bit much for me.
-
Motorized aiming mechanism? You mean the little switch with the four adjustment settings...? I wonder if there is any way to modify this... Bah, who gives a rat's ass about oncoming traffic anyway? :tonguefinger:
-
I found these two items so far but that's it. Not sure what to think... Any thoughts? Rear LSD: https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...products_id=290 Front LSD: https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...products_id=294 A locker is still a better option? I really need to learn more about this sh*t...

That is definitely a badass setup indeed. So an aircraft supply website for the lights and a big rig supply shop, eh? Looks like I'm gonna hafta find me those for my bumpers when they're all made up. Nice job buddy!
-
I sound like a total newbgoon but may I ask why? To that end, should I get a front one too, or a front LSD?
-
Sweet, I'll check it out. Thanks!
-
So my '98 has the open differential but I find it pretty useless seeing as how I want to make my rig more offroad capable. That being said, what's a better way to go, LSD swap or locker?
-
Dean, you have the JDM HID projectors. Is this flare issue substantiated? I think it's bullsh*t... Thanks for the link BTW. I'd still prefer to get a set of the JDM's though. You're referring to the lights integrated into your bumper, right? How did you manage to get aircraft landing lights? 'Cause those are a great idea! Agreed. After looking at the prices for the custom lights, it's such a pointless mod to put on a 4x4. Unless of course you're one of those ballers who puts 24's on a 4x4... I'm wondering if the JDM option is a better way to go...
-
That's pretty sweet! Could you post his contact info?

For winter, 33x10 Toyo A/T Open Country's; for summer, 33x10 Toyo M/T Open Country. Not cheap but friggin' suh-weet! BTW, did you get my PM?
-
For the R50, backspacing can be as minimal as 3.75"? I was told at least 4". To be safe, my wheels are 5" backspacing but they're 16x8. Does that make any difference?
-
Agreed! That's a considerably cheaper alternative to getting the JDM hid projectors!
