  1. Yup. I see little reason to have anything else on an off-road vehicle. It works great to rust-proof a vehicle and provides ample protection while off-roading. I plan on doing beige bedliner for everything but the roof. That's gonna be done in smooth bedliner but in black. My gf's bro's Zuk Samurai has forest green bedliner, and his friend's Jeep Cherokee has black bedliner. It serves a great purpose: armour! Just the other day out wheeling, the black JC smacked into a tree pretty good. End result: bedliner stood up too it and looked fine. His driver's side window was another story though...
  2. Good to be here... The riceboy mentality is all to prevalent where I live.
  3. Apparently it's easier to find the TD27 here in Canada than the QD32 or ZD30 engines. That really bites because I've heard good things about the latter two. I will definitely keep ya'll posted when I have a more definitive plan in place. Right now, money's tight and there are several other things I must do to the R50 before I even consider an engine swap...
  4. I had a '93 Blazer before my R50... Missed the mean torque and overall badassness of the 4.3 Vortec. Had 78,000 original km's on it when I rolled the beast about a year ago. The thing was mint. I'd love to have that engine in my R50... *sigh*
  5. Agreed... I helped a friend put a OSGiken triple plate clutch in his otherwise stockzilla 180SX; I laughed at him and he had the yams to ask why. Riceboys are a great source of entertainment! I'm with V on this one; PWND!!!
  6. Not at the moment but once it's warm enough outside, I'll be sure to take pics and make a write-up for it!
  7. I have a similar plan for my rig... But going to do the whole truck in beige!
  8. Yup, already got my diff breathers done.
  9. Cool! And it's watertight? That would be all that matters!
  10. Yup, snorkels are purely functional; anyone putting one on for "looks" might want to give their head a shake. As far as I know, both the D22 and R50 snorkels are the only available options aside from custom fabrication. It'd be kinda cool to see some nice custom designs but that would take considerable time and money I would imagine...
  11. True enough. I have an idea for mine but it's still in the works...
  12. He is accurate in regard to the D22 snorkel fitting the R50. Just ask Vengeful; he's got one on his '99. The 4x4parts.com R50 snorkel is the perfect fit; but look at the little notch for the antenna! Kinda pointless unless it's a RHD R50... Looks sorta dumb with no antenna there.
  13. Because PITA's are fun! ...What else do you expect from us silva?
  14. Just a safety measure to disable the airbag while you're replacing the filter...?
  15. Well I have plans to fab up custom bumpers for the front and rear so I suppose fender clearance will be worth exploring too. For the rear I'm not too worried so I'll focus on the front. But first and foremost I'll have to figure out exactly the best fit for 33's. And yes, snorkels are the shiznit!
  16. Bah, I'm still sold on the VG33E. I was told with the 4.6's, the VG has no problems turning 33's. VG & 4.6's 4LIFE
  17. Oh, I am so stoked! Wheels in my head keep turning... Maybe bore the VG33 to a VG34... *sinister grin*
  18. Just stumbed across this thread... This might be better than a diesel swap!
  19. LOL, nope... the thought of having an even more lifted R50 rolling on 33's gets me way to excited.
  20. LOL, ok! But at least that gives me an idea of what I can put on. The biggest I'll go is 33x12.5 as they seem to fit just right. I'm more concerned about backspacing on the wheels but thanks for the info. Always good to know!
  21. With this SFD, I'll be able to clear what width of tire if I go with 33's? I'll be wrapping them around 15" wheels so I'm just curious as to width and backspacing in terms of the wheels and tires. Any helpful would be great!
