  1. That's pretty sad, I wonder who REALLY owns the riceburner http://www.cardomain.com/ride/466259
  2. Thanks for the pic, Slick...............I've been wondering exactly where that thing sits
  3. So much for that idea......................... -alcohol-
  4. Wouldn't Slick's pathy have an all electronic transmission relying on solenoids only to do the shifting rather than vacuum pressure? I have a '93 auto and I've been told that all the shifting is done electronically
  5. Keeping it on the simple side of things, it could be a heat shield that got loose when you were wheeling.
  6. Try this site Nissan Gauges Also, just do a search on yahoo or google for "Nissan Pathfinder, Gauges" and some other stuff should pop-up Edit : forget that site, it looks like the links have gone dead - they worked the other day
  7. Hey, Precise1, if you look at the pic of the MAF sensor you posted, the O-ring is right at the base of the black plastic tower where it meets the wide, flat plastic part. I just cleaned mine Sunday and it didn't look dirty at all either, but it helped take care of my high idle problem
  8. I have an XE, which I don't mind, but it would be nice to have power windows and mirrors so I don't have to stop every time I need to adjust them.
  9. WD21 for me, only because I own one and it's got a REAL truck frame
  10. Mine's been tight the whole time I've had it, although I'd like to eventually get a full sized spare for back there. I wonder what the max size tire you can put in the internal carrier?
  11. I feel your pain, some assclown did the same to my passenger side vent last spring.............they got away with nothing, but they sure did make a mess of my dash and shift lever trying to get my stereo out. I had to work the next day so I went over to Home Depot and bought an $8 sheet of plexiglass, cut it to shape and popped it into the rubber grommet around the window frame. It looked good, didn't leak and friends and co-workers were impressed, but I eventually replaced it with real glass at the local Speedy Glass which set me back $160. As far as putting a rigid piece of glass in there, I don't know but I've heard they use some method with string and wrap it around the window frame to work the glass into the rubber seals. I don't know exactly how it works, but would love to know myself just in case I have to deal with it again.
  12. There's two times something like this has happened to me; One time when I was messing with the TPS (do manuals even have a TPS?) and another time recently right after I Seafoamed the the engine through a vac hose and the idle RPM's stayed above 1200 for about a week. I finally unplugged the battery to reset the ECU and the idle went down to about 950 - still a little high, but better than it was. I've also noticed a temporary increase in RPM's after cleaning my MAF and it's connector, but that usually goes back down after a couple of starts.
  13. I would spray some belt dressing on the belts and see if the noise goes away just to rule out that possibility. After that I would try to pinpoint the sound - does it happen only when you are moving?
  14. On a recent trip I only used 2.1 gallons of Chevron 92 on a 75 mile stretch of highway north of Seattle (35 mpg). I topped off just before getting on the highway and again right after I got off. I thought I was getting good mileage because the needle was barely below full, but not that good. I averaged 19 mpg the rest of the 300 mile trip which included some mountain road driving and traffic on the way home.
  15. The same thing happened to me when a fusible link went near my battery terminal. You may want to check on that
  16. Could it be the shift lock pin at the base of the shifter isn't fully popping into place when you put it in park
  17. http://www.sparkplugs.com/default.asp They have NGK's for about $60
  18. I had this exact problem with another make of car (GM) and I finally fixed it after about 5 years with a new solenoid when the car would stall at stoplights. My Pathfinder currently has lots of bumpy shifting (auto transmission), but I'm going to leave it and just keep up on fluid changes and hope it will hang in there
  19. I've been wrestling with the same problem since installing a new cat. I discovered the flange leading to the muffler is slightly warped and no matter how tightly I torqued the bolts, there was still a small enough gap where the gasses coming out of the cat would fry the gasket to the point where a hole would develop and it would start making noise. Try taking the connection apart yoursef and use some Permatex Ultra Copper to seal the gap. It's been several weeks and so far and it's held up, but I'm waiting to see if it will hold for good.
  20. I would try looking on junked motorhomes (if there are any on Barbados), otherwise I would look on any truck or suv that has a tow hook, as many of them came with tow packages that would have included an external tranny cooler. They shouldn't be too hard to spot as theyt are usually attached to the radiator or ac condensor. Good luck and happy hunting.
  21. Glad to hear everyone's OK I would see if your manifold bolts are still under warranty (assuming you're still under 100k)
