  1. Matt, I think your choice to hit up the people on this board is a wise one. I think a Pathfinder would be an ideal choice for a few reasons: 1. Cost - You can pick up a pretty clean 1994 or 95 Pathfinder pretty cheap compared to say a Toyota or other 4X4. 2. Capability - My stock 92 SE V6 surprises me every time I take it out, I have gone places that challenge more expensive lifted 4X4's. 3. Room - the 4 door Pathfinder can easily carry 4 adults and gear, 5 if you're willing to get cozy. I recommend that you get a WD21 Pathfinder from 1988 to 1995, that has the ladder frame before unibody. The common problems are posted in that specific forum. Read the posts, they are invaluable. Take care, and good luck!!
  2. If ur willing to pay to transport one, there are tons of pathy's out here in CA. I usually see 2 or 3 on the road a day!!!
  3. Welcome Welcome Welcome from So. Cal.!!!
  4. Well, I gotta tell ya....I currently have a 92 SE 4X4 that I was slowly fixin' up for my oldest to drive starting next year, and originally had plans to buy a new Jeep. Lately, I have been getting a crazy idea of picking up a clean 94 SE 4X4 and spending some dollars on some mods and on the engine.....they kind of grow on ya when you realize all they can do!
  5. I'm anxious to see your pathy when ur done, make sure you post plenty of pics!!
  6. After that adventure, I can hardly complain about my little challenges, lol
  7. I agree!! Keep the pathy, get a honda to commute with....Gas is only going higher, and believe me, you will have the best of both worlds!!!
  8. Clean Machine for sure!!! You will love her for sure!!!
  9. I have an auto, but she runs and runs....I was doin' better than a Jeep with better tires and a slight lift in the snow 3 weeks ago!!!
  10. Welcome Dan, from one newbie to another!!
  11. I know this sounds silly, but I had the same problem with my truck and it was the fuel filter, when was the last time you changed it?
  12. Welcome Clay! From your neighbor in Ontario, California!!
  13. They definitely grow on ya! I have 265/75 15 size tires on mine, but most people put 31's on their stock Pathys. I put mine up for sale once, and when someone wanted to buy it, I told him I couldn't part with it. Take care and have fun!!
  14. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome....... Pathy's grow on ya!!
  15. I agree, on the older engine you need to warm it up before you take off, there is a part, I can't remember the name, that my mech. pointed out that helps with that but it is not worth the expense to replace. Mine does fine after a warm up. Good Luck!!
  16. It sounds silly, but have you checked the cable connections at the post, a few things might have happened: 1. The cable connections have worked loose. 2. Corrosion has prevented a good connection, even though the battery is showing a full charge. 3. One of your cables has suffered damage, one time I had a sports car and a cable that was not in plain view was cut and connecting once and a making the problem difficult to diagnose. Good luck!! Boot
  17. I agree, the biggest 2 things that happen are either that it is not fully in park, or that the key has worn and can no longer effectively work the locking mechanism. I had a similar occurance and I resorted to having another key made from the key code. Once that key was made to the original factory code, the lock worked like a champ. Take care, Boot
  18. Thanks to everyone here! The forum has helped me greatly with fixes! I have a 1992 SE 4X4 that used to have an alarm that also controlled the door locks. The locks worked fine from the switch untill 2000 (8 years), and then the switch stopped working intermittently, and then stopped altogether. Occasionally they lock/unlock on their own if I push 1 down or pull up manually. Does this sound like a problem with the switch? Or is there some other part that I should be looking at? Thanks again, Boot
