a lot the AT tiers these days are amazing, unless you drive in bog holes AT tiers will do the job you want 90% of the time I put set of falken wildpeak at3w on mine and I love them.

Hey everyone, I've been searching online for aftermarket recovery options for the R50 Pathfinder, but I haven't found much. The only thing I came across was some recovery hooks https://meanmother.com.au/collections/tow-hooks/products/tow-hook-yellow. Has anyone used these before? If so, how do you mount them to the front, and are they effective for front recovery? Aside from creating something in CAD, I can't find any other options.

Hey everyone, I’m in the process of replacing all the bushings on my R50 Pathfinder. Most, if not all, of them are the same rubber parts that were used when the vehicle was made in Japan 25 years ago. I had my local mechanic replace the control arm bushings earlier this year, but I want to start doing some of the work myself. My local tire shop mentioned that my rear sway bar link is shot and that both the rear and front sway bar D-rubbers need to be replaced. I want to know if there’s anything else I need to do besides jacking up the 4WD to take the wheels off. Will I need a wheel alignment after I replace these parts?

4WD INDICATOR light, not warning light

I had the 4WD light come up on my dash as well, but it wasn't flashing. I ended up replacing all the external parts, such as the transfer case motor, transfer case actuator, and 4WD ECU. The only components I didn't replace were the two switches, but that didn't matter because there was an issue with the interior of the transfer case itself. I couldn't switch from 4-wheel to 2-wheel drive it was like it was in 4x4 full time just like the old Land Rover Discovery's and Toyota 80 Series. In the end, I replaced the transfer case, and now everything works as it should. I hope that's not the case for you; it sounds like one of your switches might have failed, which is a relatively easy fix. Another strange issue my old transfer case had was that I could be parked and shift into neutral to switch between 2WD, Auto, 4Hi, and 4Lo, and all the lights on the dash indicated that I was in the correct mode. However, as soon as I shifted into either reverse, drive, or park, the orange 4WD light would come on. I never took the old transfer case apart to see what was wrong with it inside. -

Since my 4WD system is back in action, I am now focusing on making my own rear wheel carrier. Getting an OEM one in Australia is nearly impossible, and I’ve wanted to create one for several years. During that time, I came across a CAD drawing someone made for a rear wheel carrier for the R50 Pathfinder. Does anyone know if that drawing is still available? I’ve searched online but can't seem to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -
So for once I actually have something positive to write, I got my self another Transfer Case from are wreaked 2002 R50 pathfinder my local mechanic got it installed yesterday and my 4WD systems is working the way it's meant to know which means I can start hitting trails again, thanks for the help and information Slartibartfast much appreciated.

that's actually are really good idea something like a Mitsubishi pajero or Toyota 4 runner of the same era might be similar in size all I would have have to make is a mount to fit the carrier to the pathfinder. -

I did find this place which seems to be in the US and Australia https://www.coastaloffroadbumpers.com.au/shop/r50-nissan-pathfinder-high-clearance-rear-bumper-kit-1710#attr=1153,1159,1160,1162,3563,1168,8249 It comes as a kit that you have to weld together yourself. When you add everything up, it totals $3,016.28 Australian dollars, which is more than the value of my Pathfinder. I’m pretty sure that price doesn’t include shipping. I think the most realistic and cost-effective option would be to make my own carrier, unless I can find one for a bargain from the States. -

In hopes of reigniting an old discussion, are there any Australians with R50 Pathfinders who know where I could find an OEM wheel carrier? I've heard these are hard to find in the US, so I'm wondering what the chances are of locating one in Australia. I started my search back in 2013 and have been looking on and off ever since, but I still haven't found one. I did see someone in New Zealand who managed to put an OEM carrier on their R50 Pathfinder, but having one shipped from the US would likely be quite expensive I have thought about making my own rear wheel carriers which is turning out to be the only option i do have a welder so how hard could it be As I laughed nervously to myself. -

After reviewing several transfer cases, I realized that the one I was considering didn't match my vehicle. I'm glad I didn't go through with the purchase. I reached out to the wrecker who supplied my transfer case motor, and he was able to find my exact transfer case. He used my VIN and instructed me to look for a smaller metal plate located below the larger plate next to my brake booster. We matched the number associated with the part for my Auto Transfer I cant remember exactly what it said but all the numbers matched with mine. He confirmed that the transfer case was from a 2001 R50 Pathfinder with a 4WD dial. I was able to purchase it for $1,010 plus shipping. My mechanic quoted me about $300 to $400 for labor to take the old transfer out and put the other one in, bringing the total to around $1,410. This is a great deal compared to the $8,000 to $9,000 I was quoted for rebuilding my original transfer case. Hopefully, after installing this new transfer case, all of my issues will finally be resolved. It can't be much else, so fingers crossed that everything works properly again. I'm eager to get back to the dirt tracks and camping, but this time, I'll be sure to avoid any water.

I found a second-hand transfer case motor and took it to the mechanics today. They informed me that the old motor had fried and was blowing a fuse. They installed the new motor and replaced the fuse, and now it works, but the motor spins freely. They suggested that there might be an issue with the spur gear inside the transfer case itself. The 4WD ECU is functioning properly, and the shift actuator that engages 4HI and 4LOW is also working. The two switches near the transfer case motor are operational, but it seems to be stuck in 4WD, which corresponds to the "Auto" setting on the dial. The mechanics assured me that as long as I avoid engaging the free-wheeling hubs on anything other than dirt roads, I should be able to drive it normally without causing any damage. They mentioned that I would be better off getting a second transfer case and transferring all the external parts from mine to the new one, as that would be the cheaper option. I found a transfer case on eBay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/195794492658?chn=ps&_ul=AU&google_free_listing_action=view_item&gQT=2, and I'm planning to send the seller my VIN to ensure it’s the right one. I'm not sure if it's an ATX14A or TX10A; can you tell just by looking at it?
