Hi All, because the scans are too big in file size to post pics on the forum, I've put the scans on my personal website. So to help others i figured i'd put a link to the scans here. It's an Aussie brochure so it relates to the Z24i spec model and not the V6. Regards Harv. http://pathfinder-trails.com/page_1218956522109.html

I have no idea what it is... it's just what i'm told!

In looking at different suspension providers in Oz for my '86 Pathfinder, i'm told that if I raise the rear suspension over 20mm, damage will occur to the drive line carrier bearing. As companies like Calmini advertise a 3" suspension lift, I'm wondering if anyone with a higher lift has a] experienced such damage and b] how companies [or individuals] get around the damage? Thanks Harv.

Thanks all very much for your thoughts and help... just a couple of other questions then... 1 - is it thus agreed [given the responses on this thread] that the t-case is the same on the KA and Z engine but the manual boxes of the two engines are different? 2 - SW... what are the 2 critical reasons you refer to for the reasons why the ZD30 in the Navara isn't the time bomb the engine was in the Aussie Patrol? Thanks again all! Harv.

Hi All... my thinking goes through a long gestation period for making my mind up on something... Prelude: ages ago I thought about the possibility of swapping my Z24 for a ZD30...but in oz I've since learned those engines cracked like party poppers in the Patrol and I don't want that in my Pathy.... I've also since learned that 6 months after my build date Nissan swaped the Z24 for the KA24. I've also learned that the KA24 was put into the UK spec Nissan 240sx sports car and that, that fraternity enjoys turbo charging this engine. Looking around for rebuilt engines the cost of a VG 30 is double that of a KA24. This got me thinking.... for the price of a VG30, I can buy a rebuilt KA24 and stroke it to 2.7lt and add a turbo with intercooler courtesy of my contacts.... it's a very long shot but i'm wondering the following... The company that does the stroker kit quotes a hike in power and torque of 30%. I'm told turbo charging an engine could give another 30% without hiking the revs... Questions: 1. Does anyone know of an offroader [not street racer] that's done the above to a KA24 - 'cause I don't. 2. I believe that the stroker kit for the KA24 is mean't to give 30% more torque and the turbo with intercooler can easily do the same again. Given a starting base for the KA30 of 134bhp and 154lb torque I could end up with 230bhp and 260lb torque according to salesman.... this is more than the std VG30 but... given the same cost... would you folks do this or still go with a 6cyl over the 4cyl... if so why? 3. Do the KA24 and VG30 use exactly the same gearbox as the Z24? 4. I'm lead to believe the internals of the Pathy gearbox is it's weak link... as such, if the above figures are possible, would the std gearbox be able to cope? Thank you all ! Harv. PS: My Pathy is a 1988 2 door if it helps...

Thanks for your help. It is appreciated.

Hello All, does anyone have the dimensions [length, width, height] of a std 2 door pathy? To date I think i've only found the 4-door version. I'm wanting the dimensions so I can get an idea of importing my 'Paddy' from Oz to the UK. Thanks All ! Harv.

Nisyota I assume you call yourself that because you have a toyota engine in your pathfinder? If so what was the swap that you did? I don't mean to hijack the thread I'm just curious.
-
For the uninitiated like me, what exactly am I looking at? I can clearly see that something's broken but is it the front ARB?
-
ARB do but i don't know what the cost is. I belive TJM do as well. Where is LA they're sold though... I've no idea.

on IFS vehicles their B-spec kit gives approx 35mm additional height. These are not designed to be lift springs. They're uprated springs that'll cope with a hammering when touring offroad. If you just want lift springs you'll best need to look elsewhere. C-spec kits are not designed for a lift either and will not give any additional height over B spec items. They're just more uprated again to cope with constant weight not additional occasional weight. For sporadic offroad touring and towing b-spec is ample from ironman.

I've had Ironman on my LandCruiser... use their foamcell shocks and not their gas. The Foamcell give a much more compliant ride. Ironman are a top quality suspension provider. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone and I will be putting them on my Pathy when I return home in 2008.

I think that's a world of difference. To the group of individuals who've designed 2 things.... 1] well done! I think it looks great. 2] From me as a member 'thanks!'. Harv.
-
to help me... what do you classify as the 'cr*p' in the ZD30?
-
why not 235/85/16? same height, more narrow thus should have less rubbing?
-
Simply gutless would be why. Prior to driving the TD27 without intercooler I drover a Land Cruiser with a 3.0 KZT engine [no E as it was minus the electronic diesel injection and intercooler]. It was a powerhouse of a motor and had the perfect gearing for it too. Every since then every diesel i've experienced has come a very distant second save for the new toyota D4D engines. The TD 27 or TD27I just doesn't come close for seat of the pants feeling. Which is why i like the thought of the ZD3.0 from nissan. I particularly like the suggestion of the patrol gearbox with it but we'll have to wait and see. I'm a fan of diesels. Save for race cars [though this arguement is waring thin when you look at the Le Mans Audi's] I can't see a whole lotta sense for petrols now a days.

Hi All! I'm wanting to ask what diesel engines would fit in the WD21 model? I can't see anything on this site to say one over the other and i'm not having much luck on google. I'm wondering if the later ZD30 engine would fit and i've just seen on ebay in a WD21 Navara a 3.2 diesel? A] would these fit, B] would they mate up to the standard 5 speed box and c] has anyone done a swap to these later engines? I've driven the 2.7's both with and without intercoolers and i'm not a fan hence why i'm thinking of other diesel engines. Thanks all Harv.

On the braking issue.... surely the problem with the brakes on any 4x4 [let alone with a Pathy] is more to do with the front and not the rear - even if they are drums. As you're braking all the weight is being transferred forward and at best it'd only be even braking if you're fully loaded in the rear. Thus to improve braking, aside from brake fluid... [i'm asking a question here all, not makeing a statement]... wouldn't it be advisable to consider alternative brake pads, maybe larger discs using the same calipers. On my race car, as the majority of the weight is over the front, larger discs and a change in Pads made a HUGE difference to braking effectiveness hence my question when it comes to applying it to a Pathy of any other 4x4.
-
why not try 235/85/16's they're 32" in diameter and they might fit... also tend to be cheaper than 33's as well?
-
Hi All, As some of you may be aware i've recently bought an '86 model 2 door pathy. I love older vehicles 'cause it gives me an excuse to play with them. First thing then is new wheels and tyres.... ... my plan is to swap the 16" wheels and tyres from my shogun/pajero/montero [depending on what country you are in] onto the Pathy. Thing is... my Shogun is in the UK and my Pathy is in Oz... so it's not a simple case of whipping a wheel off one and putting it up to the other to see if it'll fit. So i want to make sure they'll fit before i put them on the ship to send them home. So my question is: Can someone please confirm the centerbore, offset and PCD of the std 15" wheels for the WD21 Pathy? I know the shogun/montero/pajero is: Center Bore 108/ 6 Stud with PCD of 139.9mm/ ET10 Thanks All! Harv.

I heard that TJM rebrand ECB bull bars... certainly for the ally ones anyway... might be worth contacting them in QLD, Oz or doing a search on the internet for ECB.
-
JJ was the fender crumple due to the width or the height of the tyres? Most folks here in the Uk tend to opt for 265/75 tyres for 32" on their Montero's what i also own but i opted for 235/85 to get the same height and haven't had any problems.... hence my thinking for the Pathy? What's your experience & tyre choice that you've currently chosen? Harv.
-
JJ What lift have you given your Pathy as far as BL and SL goes? I'm new to Pathy's [only owned one for 5 days] and like the look of yours. Harv.

I had a similar problem on my little race car. What that issue was was the wires that went onto the starter motor weren't connected properly. Sorted this out and starts no problems. I wonder if this is potentially your issue?
