  1. try making sure your oil pressure switch is tight, and also your oil filter. when was the oil changed last? oil changes are messy with the filter in stock locations.......

Slick is right. The oil pressure switches are notorious for leaking on the starters and killing them. There is even a service bulletin on it.

  2. i do have and after market cat back exhaust done by a muffler shop. i was looking at that yesterday after i posted my tread. i thought the top hump of the rear sway can hit a pipe.

i did not see any obvious metal rubbing marks but i will recruit my wife to help bound on the rear of the pathy to see it its a possibility...

now some of my exhaust hangers are broken. i've use small hose clamps to hold the tail pipe up in place. i may need to re inspect it. or use some more support.

    thanks.

Good thing about the clamps is they are an easy fix. bad thing is they dont last forever. I am in the same boat as you.

  3. The stock horn relay is 3 pin............I looked it up in the computer and took a look for you

    part# 25630-79960

I am not sure what you got....

  4. Anybody ever remove the alarm control unit from their pathy? Mine is acting crazy going off by itself ever since I started hitting serious water on the trail. I don't think there are too many people stealing 95 pathys out there so Id just as soon get rid of it. It sounds like there is some kind of control unit under the armrest cause I hear clicking under there when it is going off. I can't turn it off because the little rocker switch is broken and doesn't do anything. Im thinking of jumping two of the switch wires or completely removing any control unit I find. The only worry with that is maybe if I remove the control unit the ignition won't work anymore but I doubt it works that way.

I'll try to peruse the FSM for more info, but in the mean time, maybe someone here has some advice.

    Thanks,

    Doug

You will not find it in the FSM. It was a dealer installed accessory. The alarm control box is under the drivers seat. It is a black box witha a white sticker.

How have you not harmed the alarm module but not the ECU with water?

  5. interesting...same general location as the tbelt tensioner. my "ticking" started about 1000 miles after replacing all my belts(minus tbelt) so ill have to check that on mine as well. thanks for clearin that up for me.

Its a metal pully mounted on a metal stud that it rotates on and it is constantly spinning. It wears itself out. think of it as 'metal errosion'

  6. broke the pathy, CRAZY party night last night woot. I refuse to drive it on the road anymore though, i can turn my pass side tire and the other one will be completly straight, scary, especailly when you driving you feel everything. Anyways i need help, after i did my half doors i screwed up something. My rear breaklight work when i hit the pedal but when i have the lights on in the front, the rear lights dont come on? so people dont know how close to follow me. Also my dash lights went out too?

    My guess would be:

    1) A woot l33t wiring problem

    2) A bad dimmer switch

as to your wheels....bad steering rack?

  7. isnt the compressor idler pully on the drivers side of the motor? it seems like its the loudest in his video when he is right around the pass. valve cover or the tbelt tensioner. also i thought the compressor pully is disenguaged and free-running untill you put on the A/C. would an eazy way to check this to be turn on the a/c and see if the ticking stops?

Compressor Idler Pully. Not the compressor pully. ;)

Arrow points to the idler pully.

  8. Well I looked at the vid and listened a few times and I am going to go out on a limb here based on what I could hear when the camera moved around......

Given the age and milege, I was thinking actually Compressor Idler Pully (11195-88G00). It can wear out and make noise from causing drag on the engine, especially if te belts have been too tight at some point. With tension on the pully you cant tell. Take up the slack on the belt and you might be surprised how wobbly it is.

But I do agree with the others, you are overdue at 95K for a new timing belt ,tensioner and water pump. Get it done soon regardless if it is this perticular problem or not.

I also looked at your other video of your cold start......does it always idle at 1200 rpm??? Thats rather high.

  9. I just bought a 95 Pathfinder XE 4X4. It rained the other day and the wipers would not work. After checking fuse under the Dash (good). I put a little rap on the light brown box mounted on the wiper motor and they began an inter mitten wipe but would not shut off at wiper switch. So I up-plugged the connector right at the wiper motor. It was full of corrosion. Clean it out and plugged it back up. Still the wipers would not shut off or respond to a different speed setting at the wiper switch. I went to a local Nissan dealer parts department and he was unable to find wiper relay, wiper control unit (without part numbers), other fuse and relay locations or show an exploded view, give a location of parts on the car, in another words very un-helpful to say the least.

    Thanks for the help.

P.S. - The previous owner said the door locks stop working after he installed a stereo. I wonder if he may have messed up the ground?

It is called a wiper amplifier. Part number is: 28510-09G02. The Nissan parts diagram is not very helpful but I can send you one if you want.

  10. so today my buddy backed into me and put his trailer hitch through my front bumper. so now i'm looking at getting either a steel offroad bumper or just an oem replacement bumper. does anyone know of anywhere where i could get a oem replacement but not at oem cost. my car is a 2001 pathy

I can do $177 plus shipping.

  11. I like this part the best:

"For over 50 years International Institutions, Universities, Engineering Associations & Independent Testing Labs have compiled documentation and test results proving that small amounts of hydrogen added to the Internal Combustion Engine significantly reduces toxic emissions, increase engine performance & provides a more complete burn of the fuel. "

IF that was true the government woudl require them to be on vehicles to reduce emissions!

"The added hydrogen gas from simple homemade hydro-boosters enhances the flame properties of the air-fuel mix & catalyzes the combustion of the hydrocarbon fuel.

    WHAT?!?!?

"Improving the conversion efficiency of the world's motor vehicles by one percent would reduce fuel consumption by one billion gallons per year! "

well...............So would removing air conditioning compressors OR catalytic converters and mufflers!

  12. Sounds like what I had starting on mine periodically. I too diagnosed it as the IAC valve, so last Saturday I replaced the IAC valve on the truck and the regulator. To get to the IAC valve you have to take the intake collector off.

Since I already was taking the collector off I went ahead and replaced the EGR valve, which you have to take off to get the collector off, I also replaced the PCV valve and properly cleaned the intake and the intake collector.

The biggest surprise was the air tube assembly under the intake I found was seriously clogged with crap from all these years. It took 3 cans of intake cleaner to get all the crap out of those pipes. I thought my truck ran great before, now it is like I took 100K miles off of it!
