I took it out for a drive... Parked it on a hill and took some pictures of it, maxed out the 2wd articulation, then splashed through a few puddles.. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/39736-some-2wd-off-road-action-pics-no-lift-stock-suspension-flex-pics/

So my wife, son, two of the dogs and I decided to take Blondie out for the maiden voyage after the new wheels and tires, trimming, roof rack and rear spoiler just to have some fun. We live in the mountains so 10 minutes up the road is some decent trails. We didn't get into much since it was just us with no rescue vehicle or cell service. This is a great little hill right off the main road... Will soon be my new pic... And a shot from the back.. Then we headed up a couple other trails where I found the need to turn around without much room to do so.. I got it teetering on the left front and right rear tires. This is full droop in the rear And full droop up front... its hard to see but the tire is actually off the ground. You can see the rear tire stuffed into the wheel well, it fit pretty good but rubbed alot at those angles.. I was a bit let down with how limited the flex is, but I need to remember it's a stock height 2wd truck. It does pretty good really. So would removing the rear sway bar help any? Then on the way home we found a few puddles on the trail and got it a little dirty.. It was a fun trip, I'd like to get a few trucks together and go wheelin' so I wouldn't have to be so cautious of getting stuck and having to walk miles to get home.

I probably won't bother on this 2wd, it's going to my daughter as a first vehicle as soon as I can afford a 4wd.
-
that looks awesome. did you end up having to trim the front fenders and bumper and all? If so looks like you did a good job.
-
Cap, your Pathfinder looks great. definitely when I will be going after when I get my 4 wheel drive. AkP, I did not mean to hijack your thread. When do we get pictures of yours with the new items?

These are the tapered mag style nuts I purchased, but the tapered end of the shaft just meets the wheel same as the standard nut does. I'm assuming the shank on the photo above should go through the hole in the wheel and the tapered should then seat on the wheel...

So I'm having an issue with tracking down the correct style lug nuts for these wheels. I've been running the standard tapered acorn style nuts from the stock wheels and though I have no wobble, I know they are the wrong ones and want it fixed. I am getting about 9 turns with the stock nuts and I purchased a set of mag style (extended shank and washer style) but when I tried to put them on the shank is too large in diameter to fit inside the holes of the wheels, I get 10 turns but there is no taper to them and the washer doesn't seat, it's just lose in there. I did some more searching and found these which I think are correct but would love some back up on this or hear from someone else who has these on a pathfinder or xterra. I have looked on the xterra sites as well and didn't run across much help. Thank a bunch.

And here's the slightly better trimmed passenger side. It still rubs on a metal cover of some sort to the lower left of the strut a little at full turn to the right. I'll check it out and reshape it soon.
-
Here is a decent picture of the drivers side. I had a blow out on this side shortly after I bought the truck that left the corner of the fender badly damaged and I had no choice while trimming but to completely eliminate the bottom portion all together.. the right side is much cleaner, I'll get a pic of it in the morning.
-
This is where they were rubbing.. I only needed to trim about 2" off the bottom of the front bumper, the blame off the bottom of the fenders behind the tires and them remove a small portion of the plastic covering the washer reservoir.. I thought I had taken pics after I trimmed it up but I guess not... I'll get some this weekend, it's my first fender sawz-alling so it's not the prettiest but it works.

I can post pics this evening after work.

Ok I guess not.. I noticed I have a tag or sticker on my rear diff cover. It's too faded to read, but I was wondering if it could be the identifier of an LSD? I doubt it because it seems to just spin the same one wheel on wet roads way too easy, but thought I'd double check.. Yes, I know it's dirty, leaking a bit and needs to be resealed..I'll get to it and get it cleaned up...

So I got my adapters and front wheels/tires put on and trimmed the front fenders and bumper a bit.. Then had the chance to park next to a stock pathy at the store and couldn't pass up the photo op... It does show the beefier stance with just wheels, tires and 2" adapters up front ...
-
Here is the difference between the 31x10.5r15s I was running on stock wheels and the 285/70s on the 17" Xterra wheels...doesn't look like much here but it's very noticeable while sitting in it, or getting in and out of it.. It also shows how far the 2" adapters set the tires out front under the fender..
-
I am still needing to lift the front 2" at least I'm not sure why this truck sits on such a rake...
-
This is how my stock height pathy looks with 285/70r17.. I had to use 2" adapters up front to pull them away from the struts and trim the bumper and the rear of the front fender. They fit just fine in the rear. No spacers, lift or trimming needed. Yours will be close to another 2" larger in diameter with new tread (mines pretty worn) so even with a 2" lift I'd image you'll need to do a similar amount of trimming. I have pics of where they were hitting if you need them to plan but you'll be different do to different back spacing and your lift. Let me know if you would like more pics...

Reviving... Has anyone tried to mount a wd swing away onto the bumper of an r50 somehow. I'd love to use a swing away and just found one from a 95 for $25 on my local C-list. I know I can't mount it to the sheet metal but figured some crafty member may have used the wd style on a newer model somehow...long shot but fingers are crossed ... -
Wow, everyone resisted the urge to comment on posting pics of his girlfriends rack.... hahaha. Ok so it's just me... I am personally upgrading my ridiculous and near useless non existent stock 2wd rack or runner i suppose it is with one from a 4wd with two tall adjustabke and three low adjustable rails I picked up a week ago at the pick and pull. Hopefully by this weekend. I have done a few things to this truck and I'm liking it more and more...

I replaced my ripped up old visors with a good J/Y pair. They are grey in my tan interior, but I think it looks good, I like the contrast...
-
yeah I saw that wear...I'll be getting the alignment done right after I get the tires put on. & I order the lug nuts last night so they should be here by the weekend hopefully. Thanks for the tips

So my wheel spacers arrived today, I'm l crazy excited right now!! I have the S/C wheels on the rear of the pathy and even though these wheels require a specific lug nut I'm currently running with the stock Pathfinder nuts even though the tapered nut doesn't match to the flat mag style surface of the xterra wheels. Just incase anyone else is planning on a similar wheel change be prepared for $6 bucks a nut for the Nissan style from your basic parts store, but I found all 24 on ebay for 33.00 shipped. May be a few days but I'll be posting pics once they are all mounted.

It's cool nunya, I'm not mad or have a problem with you or anything like that. I am excited to be part of this community and don't care about post counts or that kind of stuff, means nothing to me. As far as the search..your right it does suck on this site, but I tried it and missed and collective junkyard score thread. I actually think I found my issue with the search. Need to notice if I'm searching this topic or the whole forum... I admit my mistake. Ya the junkyard pocket items was mostly in gist and I'm talking about the couple panel clips when buying a door skin etc. I would not steal anything of value or not included with my item. I understand how junkyards work and to keep standard prices as good as they are here it requires honesty and not damaging other pieces when collecting yours. Let's squash our little feud here and move on... thanks.
