  1. Excellent, I'll add that to my Spring Break worklist!
  2. Ive recently had a hard time getting out of my pathfinder due to the door handle not opening the door until the 5th or 12th pull. I think the cable is stretched, am I able to remove the door panel and tighten the cable or do I have to replace an entire assembly?
  3. This is what I used. Ive considered draining it out and additional Redline MT90 http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=47&catid=12&loc=show
  4. TC, yeah thankfully I made sure to use GL4! Pure luck.. I havent overfilled yet because I wasnt aware until after fluids were changed. I dont drive enough while at school to worry, but in March when I replace the console to an R50 console, I plan on filling it up from the top.
  5. I was getting 15 MPG on the highway with my mobile weather station mounted on the roof. Since I dumped some techron in the tank and took the mobile station down to reduce drag, I've noticed a jump up to 17.5-18. I plan to clean the MAF soon too, so hopefully that'll get me to between 19-20 on Hwy and 18 around the city. Would be nice to get 400 miles out of a tank again. I do need to check the speedometer though, I set the cruise at 70 on an hour long trip on the highway and passed 2 cars, and had dozens pass me (mind you, the speed limit was 65) so either everyone was in a rush or the speedo is off. Need to check on that. I've taken the Pathy to 100mph and likely beyond that on a few occasions. Not for long though, usually less than a half minute. Ive cruised at 85mph for miles with no issues, so long as your tires are properly balanced. If I'm in a fuel saver mode, then I keep it no higher than 68-70mph or under the 3k RPM mark. Don't mean to hijack the thread, but does the tach on the dash show the actual engine RPM's or is it showing what its calculated to be at in a certain gear at a certain speed? Reason I ask is because if my speedo is off, I'm not sure if my tach is spot on either then.
  6. My "power switch" is moving the stick from 5th to 3rd... Nice little kick!
  7. Fluids Engine Oil - Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic (If I can find the high mileage synthetic, I get it) 5W-30 Coolant - Prestone mixed 50-50 ATF - N/A MTF - Gear Oil, Lucas (can't remember the weight) Brake Fluid - Prestone DOT3 Power Steering Fluid - Not sure, will be replacing this summer. Front Diff - 75W-90 Rear Diff - Same as Front Transfer Case - Same as Trans Filters Oil Filter - Fram, sometimes a K&N if I need to go a little over 5k Air Filter - STP In-Cabin Air Filter - Factory or aftermarket (haven't replaced) Fuel Filter - Can't remember the brand, got it from O'Reilly ATF Filter - None Fluids Engine Oil - 4,500-5,500 miles, 4500 on Fram filters, 5500 on K&N filters Coolant - Every 36 months or as needed ATF - MTF - Just changed, going to do after 28k Brake Fluid - Whenever it runs low (I have a SLOW leak somewhere that hasn't been pinpointed) Power Steering Fluid - Never, waiting until summer. Front Diff - 40k Rear Diff - 40k, would do sooner than fron diff if $$ is an issue. Transfer Case - Every 40k Filters Oil Filter - Whenever oil changes are done Air Filter - Changed original one when engine was running too rich, will replace after 12k or whenever needed before. In-Cabin Air Filter - Never, haven't bothered to look. Fuel Filter - Changed already, probably won't worry about it for a long while (75-100k) ATF Filter - N/A Change intervals
  8. I'm thinking about Rhino lining my pathfinder, but I've been reading online that Line-X is typically cheaper and much lighter overall. Have any of you guys done Rhino lining or line-x to your pathfinders? How much did it cost? I would use it more for hail protection, and also some offroad protection.
  9. Nice! I would just go to my summer job back home and personally cut and brake the metal myself, but we carry only down to 14 gauge steel which I'm thinking won't be enough. I don't go wheeling all the time but it's nice to be able to know that the plate won't get destroyed. However.. If you guys seem to think 14 gauge steel would work, I'd probably go ahead and cut some pieces next time I'm back there and cover the front, the transfer case and oil pan.
  10. I'm going to head to the JY within the next month or so, and wanted to know what trucks I could look at that would have a skid plate (front end, under the engine bay) that would fit a 93. Obviously anything from 90-93 would fit, but I wonder if the earlier models have the same kind.. and also if the 94-95 do too. I could just go check it myself once I'm there, but I've got a few things to pull so I don't want to spend time walking from one end of the yard to the other to check plates (although they should look similar).
  11. Perfect! I've got a long weekend off from school ahead, so I'll attempt to knock it out then.
  12. Excellent writeup Silverton! I'm back on a college campus with a few parking decks, so I'll be sure to go and get it done on an off day! Thanks!
  13. Thanks... Doing a more thorough look, I found what would probably be the headlight adjuster holes. Didn't see those yesterday. Anyone mount their floods to their grille area? Or in a different location?
  14. Anyone know how to do it and check for proper alignment? I've heard of the way to do it using a garage door and some tape, but I wasn't sure exactly how to do it. I'm thinking the headlights are off due to being able to keep my high beams on even with oncoming traffic (and no, I'm not trying to be a dick, but I've never been flashed and I've checked with a friend who thought I had my low beams on). Basically, I'd like to clean the lenses, potentially put new bulbs in (I'm reading in on another forum all of your suggestions for bulbs!) and then aiming them properly. Thanks for your help. Also, anyone mount any flood lights (aftermarket, like Hellas) to their bumper in front of the grille? I ended up not being able to get a brush guard but still want the lights.
  15. Currently at 141,000. Didn't look like it had 129k on it when I got it (chrome bumpers were rusting, bent, and the driver door and front fender are not original to the vehicle.. hence the paint color difference!). But it's been a workhorse for me. Minor maintenance issues but it's a great vehicle to repair. I've enjoyed owning mine and hope to continue to restore it back to where it should be!
  16. Check under the seats. They LOVE to slip under there especially if you have to flip the seats up. Guess you learn something everyday. I always wondered what those "prongs" were in the seats!
  17. Yesterday (and part of today when I was on surface streets) I noticed a whine from my 93 Pathfinder. Only seemed to happen between 45-49 MPH, and happened in any gear I was in (3,4,5). Don't think it was the transmission, but I wondered if it was those vents in the rear glass panels? Any insight?
  18. IIRC the rear bumper does need to come off, but I could be wrong. I was going to grab the one from the yard when I was getting the rear bumper but didn't have enough $$. Go figure it was gone 2 weeks later.
  19. Hit up RockAuto for a lot of parts... they've been really cheap and reliable for me.
  20. Replaced the cruise control switch.. second switch on the dash to break on me. But at least I'm able to relax while on long hauls! Planned: Replace Driver headlight, Clean MAF, seal air leak in intake, find skidplate to replace the one I lost playing in the snow, and pressure wash the engine bay. Once I get the brush guard, I'll add that and some floods.
  21. 5523's amp was an idea for my inverter, but because I need continuous access to mine while sometimes driving, I mounted mine to the center console on the backside. Its small enough to fit there. I don't have any pictures and right now it's removed so that I could squeeze a few people into the backseat. I wired mine directly to the battery and included a relay, and wired into the fuse box on the dash so that if I forgot to turn the inverter off, it would still cut out once I turned the truck to "off". Looks like a great deal, I've considered beefing up from a 400W to a 750 or 1000W but it'd require me to install a second battery and a much beefier alternator. I tapped through the rubber cap in the firewall on the passenger side to run the wiring through to the battery. All the wiring is hidden too. Just make sure to caulk or close up the hole as best you can.. been mudding a few times only to get water and mud through the hole. But it's been solid!
  22. Well, one of these days I'll carry a 5 gallon tank and see how low I can go. That's why I was looking for that light. I've only had a light in one of my vehicles, (Ive owned 4) so it's not like I need it. It would just be nice to say "Oh, the light's on, that means I have "x" gallon(s) left."
  23. WxChaser, Wx stands for Weather... and Chaser... you get it. I traded for the Pathy I own now for the ability to go storm chasing. It has been great for that use. Tough vehicle. I'm a meteorology student that's getting some in-field experience by doing some severe weather chasing, i.e. Tornadoes, Hurricanes, etc... hence "WxChaser".
  24. Thanks all. Have never seen it, but that may be due to the fact that I never let it reach the E line.. Really close at times, but never on it. Considering changing to a 90 Pathy dash that has the light visible next to the fuel gauge. It would just be nice to have because I storm chase with this vehicle, and knowing that I'd roughly have "X" amount of fuel left would be good.
  25. Hey all, Quick question, would a dashboard (just the guages) from a 90 pathfinder fit into a 93 Pathfinder? They both look similar in size, but the layout is just a little different (I like the 90 better than the 93, don't ask me why). Looking to get it from a fellow member on here. Thanks!
